House seems to be quite overlooked. Pic 3 gives an indication.

Jesus, I wonder what it cost the illiterate cypriot Panayiotou to hold it on the market for 3 years at silly money before selling. He started at £100m to get headlines but was bound to never get over 30. Jersey house had a lower initial asking price yet sold for more. The mind boggles.
Bought for 5M so going for 100M was just marketing.
He also spent 40m doing it up. You can't go wrong with bricks and mortar!

It's a lovely house, but you can see in the garden pic how the plot has been ruined in the past and now has houses overlooking the garden.
40 doing it up? I'd want to see some evidence of that. Interestingly the new owner is apparently planning a big refurbishment (which it needs because despite being done to an apparently high level it's godawfully fugly).

I thought it might have been significantly enlarged, the wing to the left being new but looking on a 1999 aerial view it's all there, the plan of the main building is the same as it is now, it's been re-roofed though obviously and a multi-car garage built to the north east.

I guess pink mood lighting must be very expensive.

If that were nearer £1.2m, I'd be seriously looking at it as a country hgouse for purchase equally with a friend. We're looking for a country house to share (we both want to keep our places in London), and for weekends, a nearby station that goes to Liverpool Street Station (near my office) in under 2.5 hours sounds good.

It is a beautiful property. My Defender moored in the garage on a trickle charger for when I get there? I think so.
Test them out with an offer :-) what's the worst that can happen.

if it's been on the market a long time then you are in the driving seat.
Just called them and arranged a viewing this weekend! Mt parents have a place in Brancaster, which is on the coast and not a million miles away from this place. Only issue with this beautiful Rectory is that it's not really that close to the coast, and 1+m can get you quite a bit in Norfolk (once away from the north coast).

That's true, don't think it's too bad from the location of that one. The sound of the Thames going over the weir at Bray lock probably drowns it out smile

That is actually so off-the-scale naff, I quite like it. Just needs a few Russian prostitutes lounging around the place for authenticity biggrin

Just what you need for lounging on a silver velour beanbag in your home cinema thumbup

What I love about that house is that the library has no books in it - apart from a few of uniform size and colour that were plainly bought by the yard rofl

That looks spectacular, but I can't imagine living in it. That is, unless I really loved swimming.

You'd get a bigger kitchen in a 4 bed Wimpy new build and that central swimming pool, recreation area would be like living in the hot house at Kew gardens.

Also, other than the master, the bedrooms and bathrooms are small and odd shaped. And why is there a door from the master bedroom to the lounge?

Not for me, at all.

Good points well made frown

I'd rationalised the smaller rooms, shonky layout etc but struggled with having an open plan pool area with bedrooms etc off it, knowing what my youngest is like (i.e. cannot be trusted).

And yes, mrs LA has better taste!
