Not sure what it is but there's something about it that's a bit "meh". It just looks a bit dull.

That said I tend to think that about most new builds.
not a single picture up on any wall.

I posted that a couple of months ago , I don't think it was ever a mental institution though ? Are you thinking of high royds ? It's just down the road alot of the out grounds are now student flats. The old main hospital is still there though.
Storthes Hall. The main hospital is gone with just the clock tower and Arboretum still standing. Apparently this building was used to house some of the more extreme nutters, its only something I've been told so don't know how true it is.

Delusional pricing of the week/month/year.

I don't know the market in Windsor but there are a lot of houses that look bigger and better than this nearby for a £million or more less.

It's been on the rightmove 6 months so far.

I've got a couple of friends that live in Windsor, it is ridiculously expensive but that house does seem a bit pricey (very pricey, actually) even when you take into consideration the spec and that every bedroom has an ensuite.

Is he referring to the lack of picture comments on the Hornchurch property?

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

The hall one is a mirror. There are more pictures sitting on the floors than the walls! biggrin

That's a dismal and depressing set of photos taken on an iPad. frown

The more I look at the Hornchurch pics the more I can't understand how they arrived at that asking price.

The kitchen is modern, like you'd get in a Barratt home, doesn't really say quality, and then, in tHe modern kitchen is a chandelier. I like chandeliers but in that kitchen?

Then the furniture, it all looks a bit 1989 and that's being generous.

The bar is horrendous, one of the pics ( I think it's 28) just has a desk in the middle of the room.

Some of the coffee tables would be thrown out by someone in their first home.

Is is a new build that someone has staged or is it occupied and the seller and agent really think those pics will appeal to the person looking to spend £6 million.

It could be a nice house, I guess most could but it's caught between the incredible price and the realistic value which I think is half at best.

Bloody hell. I grew up there. That part of town was considered a ducking fump in my youth. Bleedin' awful 60's council flats in that road housed some of the baser elements of the local population, the passageways and stairwells stank of urine.

2.75 mill. Blinking flip.

Horrible looking house for that sort of money. A mishmash of styles inside with too much white paint. A small garden and no garage. Madness for the money.

No matter how much money you have, you can't stop the floods that would worry you every Autumn/Winter...

Humm... looks ok to me?

Soz, missed this, cheeky agent, land owned by the seller but long leased (125 or 99 years I think) to the house behind, you get the bit behind the fence, and there's a "tacit understanding" that the current owners can use it while they maintain it.

If I was still in the market in that area I'd have a job to look past this, 10 acres and crying out for that kitchen to be extended

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

But I'd have already bought this before anyone else did

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

1.25 acres, manageable- in my head. Can someone point me to the thread where you lot talk about what you do with your big plots? Not everywhere has a "friendly farmer" waiting to tend it all for you!

I think the problem with this area is that all the old houses are being sold and demolished and replaced with two houses twice or three times their size on the same plot. The whole area is a big building site at the moment. Here are three on rightmove now where their days are numbered (first one just as well!):

If someone will pay for it, they are insane. Windsor is my local big town, and it is lovely - but 2.75 for a 30's house with no garden in a st part of town? No way.

We recently looked (out of curiosity) at some 2.5m townhouses. New build and top spec, 3000 square feet each, similar sized garden, overlooking the Castle and Long Walk. And I thought that they were too expensive...

That sort of house would be less that £2m in much of Zone 2 London, let alone Windsor!
