Aside from the gloss black kitchen units, I quite like that. Is this a "get me coat moment"?
I didn't say that I don't like it, it was more that for the area that is right at the top of the market for the size of property. We're buying at £360k, it's currently small individual rooms on the ground floor and we intend to make it open plan with bifold doors. I'd hope we can achieve the same effect but less blingy for much less money.
I guess it does attract a certain type of person, but if I wanted that "footballer's wife" lifestyle, I'd not want to live on a new build estate.

I don't know the market down that way at all. We're buying at £360k, it's currently small individual rooms on the ground floor and we intend to make it open plan with bifold doors. I'd hope we can achieve the same effect but less blingy for much less money.

It seems the house sold in 2001, was it new then? So it's not a new build at all.
It's had a lot done to it, the kitchen really is nice (relative to the house ) not Clive Christian but nice.
The gardens nice too, a manageable size that a lot of people like and the floor plan is decent.
I watch a lot of property shows, they can give an insight into what people look for. It sounds amazing but many cant see beyond the wallpaper or the colour of the paint. They literally want something with a WOW factor that they can move into, personalise with their ornaments and Plasma TVs and get on with living.
Lots really don't want to remodel or even change door handles. Traditionally a house was more appealing if it had a 130 foot garden, that was a selling point now, a lot of people want a patio for their HUGE BBQ, a bit of lawn and some shrubs, they don't want to get involved with the labour that a big garden involves.
Same with the house and builders know this.

It was probably built in the mid to late 90s which is what I still call a new build house, the house we are buying is 70s and is definitely not new build in it's construction ; internal solid walls, no ECO nonsense etc. Shnozz said:
Ey up John. Moving out of Whiteley then if you're going to a 70's build presumably?
Hope you are well chap.
All being well... we tried to move out in 2013 but it fell through. Finally looks like it might happen now. I'll not post up the house yet as don't want to jinx it, but looking to move out towards Fareham.Hope you are well chap.
Whiteley has outgrown itself now and is just like any other 'new build' estate now so no point paying the premium that NATS and Zurich employees and soccer mums are prepared to pay.
We've lived in the same road since 2001 so is time for a change. The house we're buying is definitely not the forever house but it's a step in the right direction.

I lived in Whiteley for a while back in about 96/97 and worked there between 1995 - 2000. Had to nip in there to buy a few bits on Tuesday and was noting all the changes. Can't say its ever really become more soulful around there and it always felt a bit cut off. Good luck with the new purchase and hope it all goes smoothly.

Hasn't this been on the market for quite a while? Or was it bought and sold in the meantime?Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
