A picture a day....biker banter (Vol 3)
Discussion
First time going up to Hartside cafe, last time I went up that way it was snowing so I turned back near Alston. It was deserted at the top, apart from two IAM-looking types.
The Hartside pass was not much fun, the road surface was jet black, fresh tarmac and it looked like it was melting in the heat, in between that, the pheasants, rabbits and sheep in the road I didn't feel all that confident. That said, the road flows better on the way back towards Hexham, so the return leg was quicker and smoother.
I stopped off at Langley castle for a few photos
Then it was off home. While it's not my favourite road in the area, but it's pretty tight and often you can't get a good look at the road ahead, lots of blind corners, so it's not exactly a flat out stretch, but the scenery makes it worth a ride. I can't comment on the quality of the cakes from the Hartside Top cafe, which I'd heard were nice, as the place was shut.
