Had a great run up to Orford with the Mrs on the back.

Annoyingly a stupid old trout reversed into my lovely new P&J rolleyes The rear of her Volvo estate pushed against my front wheel on steering lock and pushed the bike back about 3" bending the side stand. I'll get it checked over by the dealer next weekend to make sure there's no other damage, she must have put quite a lot of force sideways through the front wheel.

Thats the Metchamex engineering bike...he makes and sells these I believe.

Show looked brilliant, thanks for posting pics, too much domestic stuff this weekend for me but I really really must do Stafford next year.

No problem, I took loads of photos, don't know how many would be of interest on here, such as this Harris Turbo

Not this most exciting of pics over the last few days ill grant you but decided id better clean my lid today, 2 Summers worth of filth and flies came flooding out.

If you fancy doing the same, dont under estimate how long it takes for it to dry fully, if you leave it for a couple of days and stick it somewhere with very little ventilation(like in a helmet bag), you can end up with the most amazing green and brown mould growing inside..Dont ask me how I know...

Err, silly question, but can you not remove the lining to wash it? I know you can on my very old Arai, my Bell and my Shoei NXR.... They dry much quicker out of the lid too

On my Shoei lid some of the padding can be removed but not all the lining.

Which is why I use balaclavas. All the sweat and drool goes into the balaclava which gets flung in the wash at the end of a ride.

Also the fear I have with the above method is that the impact liner will become saturated and damaged.

Helmets are designed to be used in the wet but not submerged or jets of water forced in. Yes helmets don't carry an ip rating but I would air caution to the above method.

That's just me however.

Thought I'd tackle why my newly acquired VFR750 was running like turd:

It was registered as a parallel import when new, and I was finding the overlaid sticker on the kph speedo a pain, the headlight was a continental one (still!) so time to take it to bits!

Brand new speedo..

Got the carbs off and looked inside the bowls:

That'll be why it runs like poo! All four of the spring pins in the float needles were gummed and stuck so the float height was massively wrong. And one cold start valve was jammed partially open. So time to separate the carbs, ultrasonic clean them and replace parts.

Just to aleviate your concerns MTB, it was an Arai rep that told me of this method many years ago...balaclavas(even on a hot day, really?) make your bounce more sweaty and some of that will wick away into the lining of your lid..

You'll have that doen in a jiffy.

Bike looks very clean, I recenly had a punt on Mr 996SPSs VFR750 and was really impressed with it, such an easy bike to use and throw around, despite on paper being fairly hefty..sounded fab and went well enough too.
