Viffer carburettor body in the ultrasonic bath..

Once that was done on all four, with some of these:

And these:

I built up the carbs again:

So now they need putting back on the bike and plumbing in. I'm going to change the thermostat as it runs super cool, and check the valve clearances whilst everything is in bits too.

Went up to Highland Motorcycle Dynos to get the power commander setup and grabbed this pic at Avoch pier on my way back

the weather was S:censoredTE today on the plus side the bike made 156 BHP at the wheel, on the down side I was clocked speeding like a tit.

Looks like a quality job!

How cool does yours run?

I thought mine had a probelm getting warm but around this time of year I can't get it over a quarter of the gauge unless it's in stop start traffic or I leave it idling for a long time!

It would barely register on the gauge if moving, then slowly creep up to 1/8 to 1/4 on a normal day. Only on a hot day would it get up to 1/2 on the gauge and the fan cut in. I noticed the top hose got warm practically straight away when running it with the tank and fairing off to drain the carbs - indicating the 'stat is stuck open..

Sounds almost identical to mine!

I think I might need to check whether mine is operating correctly or not...

Got a genuine thermostat to go in, I'll tell you how it behaves after that..

Going through the old photos on my phone. This is the KTT down the pub, when they used to run bike nights.

Used to echo off the walls a bit..!

I miss having a proper bike working, cheers for the reminder of what I won't have time to do for a year or two Simon.

This'll help then, remember when you came and had a go on the Velo's?!

Not sure you started it though...

And the magneto on the Viper packed up, that couple were on the way back from the tip with a trailer and brought the bike back for us. And that wally kid kept following us about hehe

No photos of you with the KSS though which I think was your favourite!

That is stunning. I'd love a two stroke racer. My mate still speaks fondly of his old Aprilia RS125 Extrema but his accounts of the costs of the two stroke oil are... Interesting.

You two do realise that the gauge only starts to register just below running temp. Normal running temp is at the bottom and then rises if it gets hotter rather than working from zero. It should just raise to the first notch or whatever you want to call it.
