Just had the misery of a chain snapping to deal with - wish I'd invested in a new one sooner! I kept it lubed and checked for tightness but aside from a slight tight spot it seemed okay. Oh the other hand, it was probably 13 years old, but seemed fine. This wasn't the case though, and as I rode to work one night last week it snapped, leaving me pushing the bloody bike uphill from B&Q at Scotswood to the city centre where I could secure it. Pushing a motorbike around a flat car park feels like nothing, pushing it for three miles, mostly uphill, is bloody awful.
To make matters worse, I decided to pick my car up from the garage to get home after the shift ended. Bleary eyed, I paid for that (it's just had two new wheel bearings at the back) and drove it home. En route, the ABS/TRAC/ACS warning lights came on as the car pitched itself into slide at 70mph on dry tarmac. As I arrived home after a slow, cautious drive I looked at the N/S back wheel to see it smoking and stinking of burnt brake. So the car was recovered that afternoon by the garage after I'd had three hours sleep. The bike is booked in at Honda on Scotswood Road for Monday (thankfully, a short push from where it's stored!). They're confident they can fix it. Hopefully the car will be fixed by Monday too and I can put this dreadful weekend behind me!
That sounds like fun! That's quite a distance from B&Q, I wouldn't like to walk that far nevermind push a bike. That must be in the running for smallest car showroom in the world
Thanks for all the comments gents - am like a kid on Christmas Day now that I've got it That must be in the running for smallest car showroom in the world
Picked it up from McLaren Manchester in Knutsford - small showroom, but they still manage yo get 4 road cars & a real (kimi's car for one season) F1 in the place!
The drive back down from London gave me a couple of hundred miles to play with it - sheer acceleration is mind blowing (it's got 616 bhp!!!) and is backed up with the clever hydraulic suspension and air brake trickery. You often hear that the British car industry/manufacturing is dead - can assure you it's not! Stunning bit of engineering!

Wow that doesn't sound fun, did it do any damage on it's way out or was it pretty clean?I thought I kept mine well lubed but it had still managed to develop some seized links that were causing some serious kinks. I started getting paranoid about it snapping after the loose half of the chain was loose enough to knock against the chain guard over the front sprocket during engine breaking. I was originally hoping to baby that chain through the winter until the roads were salt free but I gave in once it got that bad.

I'm hoping it'll gave went cleanly and not damaged anything. It's an enclosed chain, and I didn't have the time or the tools to take the case off to look at the chain. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix. Not that I expect on having this bike a great deal longer mind.I thought I kept mine well lubed but it had still managed to develop some seized links that were causing some serious kinks. Did a quick 50 miles this morning out and about then past Silverstone on way home. It was chilly then started to rain so I hurried on home officer.
The new X-Lite is probably quieter than my Schuberth and its lighter too. My new favourite.
