Traction control light is always on and wont go off, My ABS ECU is knackered, I have had it checked via tech2(Diagnostics) and the fault is "C0131 pressure sensor circuit malfunction" I have done a bit of research and this means it has a serious fault, a company called BBA Re-manufacturing can repair it for around £150, which means getting it out of the car, sending it off and refitting it, which I dont mind doing (Vauxhall charge £1600 for this pleasure normally).

I am just inquiring as to if anyone has a guide to remove it from the car, Its a 2006 Astra VXR. I have looked but as its not a very common fault I cannot find one?

Would a Haynes Manual be helpful?

Just to back up what was said, we post stuff off to ECU testing quite often at work and as far as I know never had a problem.

ETA: I doubt Haynes will help, try searching online and see if you can at least find out the ECUs location, it may be quite inaccessible unfortunately.

Used them for my sisters mazda 2, same fault tc light on same code pressure sensor fault, mazda wanted 1.1k for the pump alone, repair was £200 if I remember rightly. Just make sure you bleed the brake a couple of times as there will be a lot of air in the system, I would get a pressurized brake bleeding kit too a lot quicker than the old fashioned method and will push out the trapped air in the pump.

Don't worry to much if the light doesn't turn off straight away you may need to take it for a run. Turn off the car and restart for the ecu to reset itself, some will go off straight away. Changing it doesn't take a lot of effort normally 6-8 pipes, 1 wiring connector, and normally 2-4 bolts holding it on. Depending where it is may have to remove other parts to gain access.

Oh and 1 top tip don't cross thread the threads in the block start them and tighten as much as possible before using a spanner you will feel then when it's tight enough and a brake pipe spanner is better to use but an ordinary spanner will normally do as the pipes don't tend to seize in.

BBA did the same job on the same car just before xmas for me, and one on a 1.8sri astra.

Great job, quick turn around and no further issues.

If you are not comfortable doing it, ask a local garage to remove and then refit for you.

I've also used BBA - great service. There are a number of horror-story threads on the net about them, which made me a bit yikes but in my experience, all was cool and lots of money was saved.

I had the output transistors die on a Ford Fiesta ECU. Posted to BBA, reasonable fee paid, ECU back working lovely by day 3 of the whole operation. I was well happy.

BBA did the ABS ECU on my SAAB 95 a year or so ago.

You ought to be able to take the ECU off the hydraulic valve block to send it away without breaking into the hydraulics at all - the car will still be perfectly useable without it, although you may lose the speedo input as well as the ABS and TC.
