No one is disputing that fact and it's pretty pointless really. I've done big power and actually enjoy this 365 kitten more than my 500+ german "arms race" weapon.
Oh, for sure. I'm not disputing that.

It was just a throwaway observation, that's all.

If you look at what it was pitted against it makes sense. Jag XKR and Porsche 911. So it pretty much sits above those in terms of power output. The thing with this car is the the torque at 360ft/lb. As I said at the time when the car was released under Ferrari ownership they had to be very careful and were conservative in their claimed power figures hence many cars putting out well over 400bhp. The car is fast, not far off my E61 M5 and the way it delivers the power is brutal especially if you have the 6 speed manual. The engine runs a very low compression ratio and is pretty much bullet proof with the internals good for over 500bhp. A simple tune and you are up to 450bhp which in this car is silly because you can spin the rear wheels in 3rd without any problems.
Spinning wheels in 3rd gear is probably down to fitting a set of 4 for £400 stick some pilot super sports on and see if you can spin them - no chance in like for like driving.

Infact a sportscar like this deserves top end rubber.

How come they always seem to get the tyres so cheap! I would have thought that a decent set would be around the £1k mark!

With the car in SPORT mode and traction disabled you can spin them believe me. I have Michelin Pilot's on mine.

The recent Wheeler Dealer 993 targa, which failed to sell, or even get a bid on eBay @ £24,000 is now back up at £19,500 starting.

Except of course, if you have a 'daughter's wedding' to pay for....

I'd be interested in popping up there to have a look at that price. Trouble is, I have to sell my Quattroporte before Mrs Blib will allow me to buy a 993. Women! frown

Also, in the grand total of 40 miles since he bought it, he can confidently state it uses no oil. smile

Used no oil in the 40 miles he's run it for, perhaps.

Looked like a lot of car for the money and a great thing to own. But Christ the parts were expensive. Almost as if some of them were designed to fail and give a regular cash supply to the dealers. I'd imagine a sorted one is lovely but I wonder how reliable they are. Is regular servicing expensive? Are there other known issues besides the TB etc that will throw a larger bill when you least expect it?

Well, the QP's too wafty. I can't go back to a 4200, I don't like the extra bodywork gubbins of the GS. I need not tell you about the 3200 wink.

Truth be told, in my heart, I want a 964 targa. But, my head dictates a 993 instead.

Lemme sell my QP (in the PH classifieds right now, listeners wink ) and I'll get back to you. thumbup

I've yet to see the 3200 episode. I'm going to watch it after I finish watching Arsenal get beat tonight.
