Test day in 3 days.

First race of the season, Adelaide Clipsal 500, in 15 days.

Holden, Ford, Mercedes, Nissan and Volvo joining the fun.

650bhp, 1400kg, 300kph

15 races of wheel to wheel, sideways, airborne, door banging, non-stop action.

Who's in then?

Really hoping I can find a reliable way of watching this, its inconsistent tv coverage out here at best and the internet is questionable for streaming... will see

Motors TV has the season opener scheduled for 27th Feb.

Scott Mclaughlin gave a good account of himself last year, hopefully, he'll do an even better job with Volvo this year.

In, my favourite series since 2009! Shame the coverage isn't great, MotorsTV is fairly close to the event but the quality is awful. Skysports had the HD highlights but about 2 weeks after the events!

Why don't sky/bbc/whoever cover this?

It's one of the world's best (the best?) and most exciting motor racing series and the commentators (Skaife, Larko etc) are exceptional, as are the production values.
The technical analysis is fantastic and Larko 'access all areas' storming round the pits pushing his microphone into anyone and everyone's faces and asking pertinent questions is brilliant - he's 'right there' at tyre changes/fuelling/engine failures, millimetres away, climbing all over the equipment, poking temperature probes into tyres and brakes and filming absolutely everything.

Sure Martin 'cameltoe' Brundle used to have the odd chat with F1 drivers on the grid pre-race but it was hardly mesmerising.

Sometimes I watch V8 Supercars and F1 on the same day and the F1 coverage and commentary are embarrassingly pedestrian and aloof compared to the rollocking frantic fun and non-stop action of the V8's.

Would SKY/BBC get a strong UK audience if they broadcast races 12 hours later?

It's my favourite race series by a long way. The cars sound fantastic and the commentators do a great job, especially like Larko doing the tech and race strategy, although that might change a bit given the shorter races. Shame as I enjoyed the longer races with pit stops and refuelling.

The Volvo looks fantastic!

Why would the BBC be interested in showing a series from abroad that only the motorsport "enthusiast" really cares about?

This they only show half the races in f1 live what hope has aussi v8s got at being on the bbc. Plus apart from die hard motorsport fans how many people in the uk have heard of the series.

Even though the Volvo does look good it kind of doesn't look like a Volvo at the same time. Pretty much like the Volvo in the stcc as in it doesn't look like a road car.

I disagree. It looks a lot more like a Volvo than if it were an NGTC version for example, with big skirts and arches etc.

Good TV coverage from Motors too. Live from the Clipsal and same day delayed coverage of the other races. I know the quality's crap, but you can't fault their commitment. I just hope they hang onto it when the Aussies move back to Channel 10 next year.

Thanks Ben, great stuff.

I hope the Volvo's competitive.

In fact I hope all the marque's are competitive.

Bring on Adelaide!
