There are a lot of myths out there regarding the mass of the Rover V8, some posts on here discuss this:

As part of my Bowler rebuild project I decided to weigh the major assemblies as I went along, Last night I weighed the Rover V8: 163kg

Specification:
3.9 Rover V8 dressed with:
  • Distributor and leads
  • 16ACR alternator on RH bracket
  • Oil in sump
  • 14CUX plenum chamber complete minus hose to AFM
  • Starter motor (standard)
  • EFi Exhaust manifolds
  • No flywheel
That is lighter than I expected bearing in mind figures like 230kg, 440lb and so on.

ETA:
would it be worth compiling a PH Wiki of engine / powertrain data such as this?
