I've been reading through all the different f1 threads building up to the new season, and been suprised how many people have said that they think Kimi will come out on top, in this mouth watering battle we have to look forward to.
My mate is so sure that Kimi will beat Alonso, but i'm not so sure, my money is on the dolmio man, just to pip kimi.

It should make 2014 exciting if nothing else!

P.S, this was meant to be a poll!! I'm not great on this interweb lark!typebangheadbyebye

Kimi. Alonso will lose his cool, Kimi will just keep his head down and drive the car.

Alonso.

I don't like his character, and he had a few toys / pram oments a few seasons back. However, IMo he's the best driver in F1 by a noticable margin. Kimi is a great reliable bloke, but does he ever bring results the car isn't worthy of? I'm not so sure.

Probably the most interesting battle of 2014, let's just hope Ferrari let them fight.
If they don't, I'm willing to bet that Kimi will tell them to stuff it and walk away, but in the real world these things will no doubt have been discussed at a contractual level(at least with Kimi!) before any signing up was done.
If not then Alonsos' teddy will be getting a lot of air time. I really hope that is the case as it'll probably be the most entertaining part of F1 this season.

Alonso. Kimi failed against the journeyman Coulthard and was fortunate to win the F1 crown.

Kimi's biggest advantage at Ferrari is that he doesn't give a flying F###k ......and this year, he's even getting paid....to rule him out against Alonso would be foolish.

I've got a horrible feeling if they are sharing the same bit of track, even in the early races, one of them will get a phonecall like the Mercedes pilots last year. I think if that happens I'll switch off for good.
If it's Kimi he will suffer an awful radio transmission failure and not get the message....

But I don't honestly think Kimi would bother racing if he wasn't going to be allowed to try to win.

You assume that either would listen, both have form for having a "radio problem" here and there.

Whats going to be more interesting is how they each use the team to get what they want. We've seen Alonso get frustrated when the car isn't where it needs to be. If they both start demanding different things from the car which way do the team go ? Especially as they have struggled with development rate through a season lately.
If it goes Kimi's way, Alonso will throw a fit. If it goes Fred's way Kimi will give even less of a fk than he does already.

The other thing is how well Stefano can deal with it all - he wasn't in post when Kimi was there last.

I don't think there will be an outright "winner" to be honest.

Either Alonso, or there are going to be toys thrown all over the place.

Alonso. In my opinion he's the best all rounder the current grid has, so I expect him to outscore Raikkonen over the course of the season.

That said, I suspect Raikkonen will have the occasional mega weekend where he's untouchable (providing he has the car). I'm predicting Spa will certainly be one of those, maybe Monaco too.

I think that, intentionally of not, Ferrari will make Alonso their #1 driver. He is so well established at Ferrari. It is perfectly usual for a joining driver to take a while to get hooked up with the team.
I know Kimi has Ferrari in his past as well.

Oh I'd love to hear that - not a chance in hell either of them would move over, forgetting they're both seriously good F1 drivers, they've probably got the thickest heads in F1 - Sure Alonso might wave his arms around a protest like a tapped footballer and Kimi will either tell them to fk off or not respond at all - but the end result would be the same.

This might be the season where Alonso gets knocked off the pedestal he has been put upon by the media and the fanboys.

How do you work that out? Kimi's first year at McLaren in 2002 when the Merc engine was very fragile he suffered from 10 retirements yet still finished 6th in the WDC, one place behind DC in 5th.

The following year he had settled down and learnt to be kinder to the car and came 2nd (DC 7th), I still think he was robbed by McLaren that year who wasted time trying to develop the MP4-18 dog of a car instead of concentrating on the MP4-17D they started the season with.

Then in 2004 (dog of a car again) he came 7th (DC 10th).

Alonso for me. I think he'll have the edge in qualifying and that should be sufficient to be far enough up the grid to make the difference in the race, but I think Kimi is still a great 'race' driver. They both are TBF.

Alonso is the best all round driver out there but he is also prone to getting a tad upset, Kimi is a better driver than he was with his first stint in F1 as he looks at the bigger picture now however he is still the fastest when he needs to be and he has a cool head and doesn't let things get to him, unlike Alonso, I think it will be close however it will be Kimi.

I think Kimi has been brought in to to give Alonso a rocket up his arse and to let him know that he isn't indespensible.

This makes a lot of sense, Alonso could well get beat by his own temperment, if Alonso can keep cool he is the man.
