I was out at my mechanic's place earlier and I've always noticed this old grey Accord sat at the back of his yard. It's a 2.2i automatic with AWS (can't remember the trim level), which some quick googling suggests it has anywhere between 115-150hp. It's a Euro car, if that helps. Decided to take a closer look at it today and was pleasantly surprised to learn just how clean it is. The bodywork is damn near perfect, the leather interior is unmarked and - the biggie - the odometer reads only 32,000 original miles.

However, it does appear to have been sitting for a while - the tyres are nearly flat, there's a very small amount of moss growing from the bumper strips and - the other biggie - it appears to have been last taxed (and therefore on the road) in 2005.

Would it be worth it to offer the guy a couple hundred for it? My practical knowledge of working on cars is of a bare minimum, plus I didn't get to take a thorough look at it so I've no idea what I'm looking for. The way I see it, it could either be a ruinous money pit or the steal of the century. Any and all advice welcome. Thanks in advance!

It's more or less identical to this car, if that helps.

I guess you've given up on the idea of buying this one - Ibut just came across this post so thought I'd reply. I used to have one of these cars back in '94. I loved it. It was a manual version in Buckingham blue, I had mine lowered and Borbet alloys fitted. At the time my friends were into their 3 series Bee Em's, and they were all amazed at the quality of the Honda, the way it drove and looked, it was an impressive car.
If it's still there, and it's a good un, Go for it. The engines are unbreakable, parts are still available (and cheap) it's a good old car to go for.

I think that was the best-made Accord of all time - and my son and I have had 'em (nearly) all.
