Anyone got some tips which sealer to use when fitting copper head gaskets. I have had the gaskets made and the block wire ringed but I'm trying to find out what the best sealer is to use to seal the rest of the gasket. Advise is very welcome. Engine has steel wet liners with aluminium block and heads. (TVR AJPV8)

Used copper head gaskets for years on British motorbikes. Still have a 1950 BSA A10. Never used or needed any sealant & re-usable if undamaged providing annealed before re-use, but then there's no water involved.
As st says, the best people to ask are those that made & supplied the gaskets, after all, if it doesn't work you'll no doubt be having words!

Used to cock about with these on A-series engines, back when pussy was a kitten. Hylomar Red worked every time. No water/oil leaks ever.

Speak to Dom at TVR power. He supplied me some stuff for my copper gasket/wire sealed AJP Turbo which has proved indestructible, admittedly only on the dyno though but is has had some real abuse.

When a tuned mini was giving 47 h.p. a smear of clean engine oil was the correct thing ,it made the gasket creep as the head was tighten down . There is no doubt some 21 centurt snake oil at $100atube that does the same -------- ok I,ll get my coat and zimmer

Wellseal is very good with copper gaskets. In fact it works just aswell with steel shim gaskets too.

Are they solid copper gaskets or layered? If solid, make sure it's soft enough.
