After much patient waiting my next (and probably last) restoration project has finally arrived into my garage. First impressions seem to match my expectations and an initial examination of the chassis suggests that it is in much better condition than I had feared. I know it looks funny on those tyres but they were just put on to replace those that had perished in the sun. I believe there is only one other example of this particular vehicle/model within the UK. The next few months are likely to be very busy!

What is it, a Matra Djet or Renault Alpine?

Are you importing this?

Very confused by 'perished in the sun' and 'within the UK'

It looks like a mid 1960's (early) Alpine A110 (berlinette!)

Beautiful thumbup

What's the plan, rebuild as original or rally replica? If they're so rare, I'd be tempted to rebuild to original spec.

Is your A108/A110 a Dieppe car or one of the Spanish (FASA), Brazilian Willys Interlagos Berlineta or other licensed copies?

A108/A110 ...
I thought the A108 had the vent open in front of the rear wheels, and the A110 didn't, or was it not a simple as that?

Come on OP, give us some background, what is it and where has it come from... smile

Its a year 1971 Dinalpin - Mexican licenced version of the A110. I found it in a scrap yard on the West Coast of the USA some 6 months ago and I picked it up from the shippers yesterday and is now in my garage near Windsor. Just spent a morning reviewing my purchase and I am quite happy. Paint is flaking but no apparent signs of osmosis, chassis is surprisingly rust free but I will obtain more expert opinion, engine appears seized as I can't turn the crank even with a huge lever. Getting some scrap tyres put on the wheels so that I can make the car mobile. I would guess another week of planning then start the strip and rebuild - it will of course be painted blue. Intended use will be regularity style events not stages. I have a Tornado Talisman for sale to help fund the venture if anyone is interested!

You'll probably be getting familiar with these guys at some point.

Not a recommendation as such: they just seem to have been involved with A110s forever!

Good luck.

I never even knew they were built anywhere other than France. You live and learn.

Are these 1300 or 1600cc? A great project and can't wait to see some more pictures.

Was the Talisman at the HRCR open day the other week? Looked nice if so - thoroughly approve of the new project though.

Very jealous! Always loved A110 no matter where they were made, is it a swing arm or wishbone car and is the GRP thicker like the Spanish cars? (no bad thing tbh)

Excellent find Tony, I would have done a Berlinette in place of the DS rally car I built had it not been for the fact that I can't fit in one of the buggers!

I assume it'll be ready for Throckmorton?!

/\ this.
I went to look at this one http://www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/13163738... but I sadly discovered that I couldn't fit in it.
My son-in-law who is below average height managed to get in but really struggled to get out!

Yes that was my car at the HRCR Open Day - typically it is going the best it has ever done. Some people have remarked on the difficulty on getting in an Alpine - well I completely concur! However a removable steering wheel and some thinner seats set further back 'should' help - a diet on my behalf may also assist!!
