Selling an Evora - What's the best way?
Discussion
Hi guys, just wondering if I could pick your collective brains:
I've decided to sell my 2012 Evora S in the Spring. It's been an absolute blast, by far the best car I've ever driven, but I'm heading Stateside at some point, so I need to start downsizing in advance.
Would Pistonheads be the best place to advertise it, or are there any other avenues that might realise me more cash or reach a wider audience? I've discounted Autotrader due to the many tales I've heard of sellers being harassed by telesales and scammers.
Don't fear, I'll probably go for another Evora or V6 Exige in the States!! Am praying the Pound keeps rising!
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info, I've always viewed Pistonheads as the premier UK sports car website, so that part is a no brainer, will also look at SELOC.
Do you guys agree with my assessment of Autotrader? What about Top Marques?
The car is 2+2, starlight black and paprika with all 3 packs, 20 inch diamond cut alloys, pretty much every option except IPS and it's not an MY12 interior. It does have the MY12 clutch improvement though and folding door mirrors! FLSH and 24K miles, used as a daily driver, so all niggles sorted and not lurking as they might in a hardly used car.
Nearly £60K, two years ago, I was thinking of £42,500 or thereabouts.

Give it a go selling yourself but tbh I think you'd be better off just chopping it in with a dealer. I'm in the market for an Evora myself and despite having bought a number of £40k-ish cars privately in the past, I would only buy an Evora from a dealer unless it was very cheap.
To give you an idea, this car from Lotus Newcastle is £43k - MY12, full spec including premium sport interior

If I understand correctly your car is a MY11 car despite being registered in 2012. On that basis I'd suggest in a private sale you'd be looking at £35k-ish - a dealer would probably retail it around £38-39k but I'd still be looking to them to fit the MY12 gear cables.

You could well be right, but the car is still a year younger than 2011 models and I'd be open to offers...
Mine has the MY12 cables fitted. Also, Newcastle seem to specialise in unusual colours - they had a metallic burnt orange one that seemed to hang around for ages. That one looks a bit 'feminine' for my taste.
Maybe I should get a firm offer from a dealer and then try to better it privately with the dealer as the fallback option.

FWIW, Murray in Edinburgh have a good track record selling cars on behalf of punters and I know for a fact that they are desperate for second hand Evoras for the showroom. There is a dearth of stock up here at the moment. Scotland seems to be a strong market for the car. Must be the roads.
Brandon might very well be interested. Give him a call.

Why is that, exactly?Notwithstanding that, there are several late registered MY11 cars priced around £39-45k that have been hanging around on sale for the best part of a year now. There's also now a fully loaded 61 plate at a dealer being advertised for £37k...so £35k-ish for a private offering of what is to all intents a MY 11 car sounds on the money. Of course, if a dealer wants to rake your car off your hands for £35k-ish, I'd take it.
The n/a cars seem to be selling quickly, doesn't help the OP but there is definately a market out there for n/a's at least, the catch is that there are alot of S's about at the moment. One dealer I spoke to says she feels like she is becoming an Evora Dealership and most of them are S's.

Why is that, exactly?Another thing to bear in mind is that most buyers these days don't actually have ready funds and rely on dealer finance facilities
