What limited mileage makes the insurance a bit cheaper generally?
Are we talking 4k, 5k, 6k miles or dependant in each insurer?

Any general guidelines?
Thanks

I think it depends on the underwriter. In my case is less than 7500 with further savings if less than 5000. This is on a modified car insurance policy.

Have a play on confused.com. It seems that, down to a point, it gets cheaper, then below a certain level it starts going up again! My OH called to reduce the mileage on her insurance as she was getting a company car but they told her the premium would go up because less miles = classed as less driving experience therefore greater risk! The fact that she'd be doing mega miles in a company car was lost on them. In the end she left the mileage alone.

I did a quote just last week for a hot hatch. I'll be moving closer to work so I'll be able to walk instead of drive, so have been looking at hot hatches but including SDP+Commute as the odd day I'll have to visit an alternative site.

5000miles came out £100 cheaper than 3000miles PA

I had a classic policy last year, options were 3k, 4.5k, 6k or 7.5k... All exactly the same price.

This. In the age of internet comparison sites, it always really confuses me when people come here to ask for vague secondhand experience, when they could just go and get absolute answers themselves in less time!

People have always been astonished at my insurance prices over the years. I tell them all to actually get quotes for things..

That's not SDP&C use - commuting is defined as travelling to and from your normal place of work; travelling to an alternative site would require business use.

Google has been around for 16-18 years, and we still get petrolheads who don't know how to tax a car.
