R888gg (soft) is a belter. Fast...about 80% of a slick...which is very good. They do a medium too.

Also good if you can get a deal is the yoko a048r.

Either way, a set will last you all year...Two if only doing a couple or three races.

Its the mediums we run, dad was 1 sec slower than slicks when he used them! Ones I will be using this year are same ones dad ran (I have used them at Snett a few years ago and they were good!! Hopwfully will still be ok lol).

Dunlop Direzza 02G hard compound, had them years and dont seem to wear out.
Mind you , they dont have much grip and if you corner much above 50mph you'd think you were driving a '73 Buick Electra in a Kojak car chase hehe.

to add my penneth, used medium 888 GG compound, brilliant tyre, lasted well but got v hot near the end whilst pushing on at spa, but once cool behaved just like new again, loads of tread left on mine and used them a lot last year. Khumo's good though, run them on the griff and Boss racing use them on the Caterhams,

888s
Keeps the car in a road legal/formula libre class for the Scottish 'SuperLap' thingy, use them as 'wets' on track days and also run them on the road. I'd use second hand slicks on track days as they're cheaper, but in truth they don't seem to offer a whole lot more grip than the 888s. The set I've got on now must have done 500+ laps of Knockhill and would still be classed as road legal.

my opinion of kumho's is coloured by how crap they were 10 years ago when they were the control tyre on the tasmin, you could only get 3-4 hot laps out of them before it was game over and they never gave that much grip and didn't like more than half a dozen heat cycles, and that was the hard compound. I've still got a stack of them in 15" with about 10mm tread..

They must have come on in that time though, so if the price is ok might be worth a punt..

Dave just make sure what you go for is on the list as Future Classic's run from the lists in the Blue Book the right list is in the regulations of Future Classic's CSCC.

Updated: Here you go Dave couple of paragraphs from top............

Cheers Perry smile Reading some of the latest reviews on the interweb, the Kumho tyres seem to rated better than 888's. Might give them ago.

no harm in trying just be careful that they will cope with 40 minutes hard graft, certainly the 888's and yoko's get very squirrelly after a half hour at the front of a race & I would expect you to be at the very front in your car battling with the Ferrari,Jag and the porkers.97.5% of cars in Future classics run Toyo or Yoko probably for a good reason, only guessing though wink. The entries have just been released for Silverstone blimey two races out there already must be close to the season kicking off ohhhhh yeeeeh.smokin

The DDMC National Saloon & Sports Car Championship (NSSCC) don't have a problem with AJP bonnet cuts like the Future Classics people do they?
