Perhaps one of Marvels lesser known superhero teams, but maybe that's why I'm really looking forward to this.

Anyway, the first actual pictures, as opposed to concept art, have now been released.

Wikipedia said:
In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan (Lee Pace). In order to evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a group of misfits including Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Rocket (Bradley Cooper: voice), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) and Groot (Vin Diesel: voice). But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

First trailer is out at some point today as well. I'm really looking forward to this one, as it's something a bit different in the Marvel universe, coupled with Rocket Raccoon being an awesome character.

Wow, a trailer that doesn't give away the entire plot of the movie. Awesome!

It actually looks pretty funny too, will be keeping an eye on this.

Full trailer looks decent smile . Is Joss Whedon involved in this? It's got a Firefly vibe to it, especially Chris Pratt. I mean that as a good thing smile .

Coon & Friends: The Movie.

Where's Mintberry Crunch?

Actually looks okay. Tentative interest, may need to see another trailer.

Whedon is involved with all the Marvel movies since Avengers as I beleive they have employed his services as overall "technical Advisor".

I do see what your saying though, Chris Pratt does seem to be channeling a little bit of Captain Reynolds there (again, in a good way)

I'm a big Firefly fan but I didn't see any similarity at all I'm afraid. Other than the obvious fact that they look like a band of disparate renegades all thrown together - but then so did The Magnificent Seven etc.

Still, I'm hopeful it'll be OK....but sooner or later one of Marvel's big budget films has gotta bomb.
