Was woken by the car alarm this morning (as were, I suspect, my German neighbours!). Went out and first thing, the remote didn't turn it off! Opened the car doors with the key, that seems to have done it. Oddly, the lights were on yet none of the switches were. Battery totally drained (probably explains the key fob not switching anything).
Tried jump leads but nothing there. Am a bit puzzled by the lights being on and the only thing I can think is that some water got somewhere from the rather explosive jet-wash it had yesterday.

Anyone got some other suggestions?

Firstly, is anything electrical still working??

It all depends on the car year and the model alarm.

If it is a factory fit, you should have a keypad in the glovebox (classic) or cointray. The code will be in your paperwork. That will allow you to disarm it.

Then pull the bulb from the interior light and try again.

If still no joy, you could go wit he water short idea and see if it dries out today.

Otherwise, it's a case of pulling the ignition circuit fusee and then seeing if you get the non ignition electric circuist to work.

Actually I was just a numpty!

Decided to give car a good clean inside and out yesterday, whilst wiping down the steeering column I knocked the parking light switch and there began a night of battery-draining woe. Seems when the battery gets so low it triggers the alarm.

Ho Hum - Only gave the inside a good clean because the Mrs complained I never did it!!
