They've just confirmed that they're replacing number 4. They plan to be at East Kirkby on Tuesday.

I just saw ( well maybe half an hour ago ) 1 of the 2 Lancaster's biggrin - I plead ignorance as to which one it was
Quite low and quite slow, flying above Marlow in Bucks
Never thought I'd see one except at an airshow !
It bought a tear to my eye
yes saw this flying low over Harpenden around 3oclock awesome sight ,think it was the RAF plane.

Must have been because as has been said a few posts ago Vera was grounded with an oil leak.

I'm glad I made the effort to see them at Little Gransden last week, 'just in case' as my prime plan to see the 2 x Lancs was by going to Shoreham tomorrow.

Feel sorry for the person that was planning to see tham at Sywell and Bournmouth!!

Just as well they had started the plans to get JJ flying again, and one of the first things they did was spending money on 4 x zero timed Merlins, that there was a ready available with paperwork engine to swap over at such short notice.
The engine systems in Vera though have been 'modernised' with a fancy oiling system, I've read elsewhere, unlike the BBMF's original military style installation, so I wonder if this was also the plan for JJ?

Hoping to see the flyover in MK today, assuming it's still happening. How do I find them on flightradar?

Only 'Thumper' flying over today. So I don't think you will see anything on Flightradar.

We are going to have a look, but will probably park at Ouse Valley park north of the museum as it is more open (assuming a south to north flypast as it is going from the south coast to Notts via MK).

Slightly OT. But given the success of this tour, what are the chances of getting the B29 over here?

Nill, I'd say. The B-29 never operated in the ETO, so doesn't really have the 'history' outside of the anorak community to justify a tour.

The CAF brought their B-24 over for a short tour a while ago (actually thinking of it, that was probably over 20 years ago now!!!!) and I'd love for the Collings Foundation to consider bring Witchcraft over, which is a much more representative version of the Lib. With the proposed change in rules to allow 'paid flights' it could be something they might look at, but given the length of their USA Bomber tour they currently undertake every year, I doubt bring their Lib over will figure in their plans.

There were lots of B-29's stationed here after the war though, both in USAF service and in the RAF (known as the Boeing "Washington"). In fact a recurring thread on here is the RB-29 that crashed in the Peak distict in 1948.

Yes, but not during the war, and that's the important bit, not about fulfilling the needs of us few anoraks.
Joe Public would likely have no idea the RAF operated B-29's as the Washington for a few short years post war.

Apart from the link the droppping of the two 'bombs' on Japan, average UK Joe Public would likely have little association with the '29.

Here's a nice video of Duxford's B-29 arriving at the museum:

One of the last B-29 pulled out of China Lake (CAF's b-29 'Fifi' was one of them as well)

She could have flown over the Atlantic in one go, but had to make it via plenty of stop-overs via Greenland/Iceland etc., due to excessive oil consumption on one engine, so the endurance limits were based on oil capacity not fuel capacity!!
