Going to be starting a new job in London and will be leaving from Baldock station.

Will need to find parking and want views on other places that won’t cost loads and are near the train station. I guess £23/week isn’t massive for most people but for me it is a fair chunk. If anyone has any views/suggestions where I could park my car from 7am to about 7-8pm Mon-Fri and won’t cost loads I would appreciate it.

Many thanks

Does it have to be Baldock? If you're ok with street parking, there are places near Letchworth station and the train fare should be a bit less too.

Most cars using Ashwell and Mordens station seem to park in the road outside or just along the road into Ashwell for free (although it seems to be busy by about 7:30am).

Try the parkatmyplace website. It works well in my experience and will probably have spaces on private driveways that you can book for day week or month

If you find a good spot book it for a week and then chat up the owner and negotiate your own deal for a longer term

They're beginning to clamp down (residents only now for the most part) in Baldock but round by the Twitchell / behind the library there's a bit of space. Again, mostly gone by 7-7:30. I'll keep an eye out for your Beetle (?) as I walk that way every day to the station. You can cut through from there down an alley that takes you out to Whitehorse Street cross-road in 2mins, and about a further minute to the station from there. I'm the one you will often see running down it having overslept and cut it too fine to catch the train.

I tried driving and parking at the station, even driving into London as an experiment for a bit, but the 10-15min walk each end across town is pretty therapeutic (albeit not in recent weather)!

Edit: Looks like they're cracking down on people parking along Clothall Road and other areas nearby the station: http://www.north-herts.gov.uk/index/transport_and_...

You would definitely be alright to park on the road outside Ashwell station at around 7 (I arrived at just after 7 until the last couple of weeks as I now go from Royston).

By that time the only spaces tend to be up on the uneven verge bits (if on the road towards the A505), depends on your car but my mk1 mx5 has been ok scrambling up and down them all winter.

Tesco at the top of the High St, 5 minute walk to the station. I sometimes leave my car there all day when I get picked up for work and have never had a problem.

Arlesey train station has a massive car park, which is currently free to park in. Not sure how much longer, but has been free for a few months now.
