Great stuff!

I was having a chat with Little Ex the other day (He's eight and loves cricket), in fact his Granddad has cut 'us wicket int top field' - which to be honest plays a bit like Trent Bridge, and even has slight slope like Lords hehe

It was during the the MCC vs ROW match, I was trying to explain that in my mind Tandulkar and Warne were probably the best opposite ends of the wicket players we've seen for a long time, and then the little fecker (Little Ex) pipes up and says but what about 'Atherton vs Donald?' and 'Look at Root and Anderson!', just then there was a Sky Sports program about how each of them faced each other.

Fascinating stuff.

A little later I was chatting with one of the Hurling coaches, trying to explain Cricket to him. I ended up by stating 'Talking cricket here is a bit like trying to convince a bloke that sex with a women is underrated and you'd be be better off doing it with a bloke'.

They really don't 'get' Cricket over here in Ireland! hehe

Great footage from Gilly's helmet cam from the MMC v ROW game. Get's you into the action and gives you a little insight into life in the middle. I thought all the chat between the batsmen would be about plotting strategy and run rates, but I guess it's bigging up your own shots and spotting totty in the crowd like the rest of us do!

Good to see what its like facing someone like Brett Lee and how quick those balls are. Still fascinates me how they are able to pick different shots when you have a split second before the ball reaches you at 90mph.

Kinda forgot about this guy, but Senanayake has been banned from international cricket, after he was found of having an illegal bowling action.

I enjoyed the short 2 ball edit of Gilly facing Tait. Suspect we'll see more go-pro footage as the technology improves.

I know the go-pro doesn't show some of the more subtle visual cues which help you as a batsman, but I was surprised how at that speed, Tait's bouncer was much easier to recognise than picking the line and length of the ball which was pitched up.

Lords and Steven Fry have made some cartoons about the rules of cricket, may be fun if you know some young players.

I read an interview of Sangakkara who said that he looks at the bowlers approach and hip position which helps him process the speed, line and length of what he's going to receive. Incredible really that the top guys can glean so much insight from the bowlers approach.

I also remember someone saying that Harmison's slower ball is so poorly disguised he pretty much telegraphs it whilst getting off the team coach in the morning!

Terrific innings from Matt Coles and Michael Carberry for Hampshire against Essex, sixes galores, 9 sixes between them.

Some dollies dropped though for both sides.

And the mighty imperial storm troopers of Worcester march towards promotion un-abated, with Daryl Mitchell carrying the bat for the whole innings at 167*

Seems that they are filling in the gaps for Ajmal. Though 68/8 to 156 all out is not the best way to end the innings. Also 5 runs short of the last batting point.

Yep - and gloucestershire's waggly waggly tail show just how we do miss him with the old ball.

Sri Lanka 421 & 11/0 v South Africa 282! Wow South Africa gone down hill! Not looking forward to England and Sunday. Luke Wright produced an incredible innings as he smashed an unbeaten 153 from 66 balls must of been a corker of a game to watch!

Luke Wright isn't consistent enough for me. Makes hay at County level but internationals not so much. I know he has a mandate to go out and play shots and occasionally gets a big innings but more often than not he gets out for a low score.

There are a few county level players that can bully bad bowling. It's a very different matter when they don't have three bad balls an over to hit and have to put up with four genuinely good balls an over.
