Had the TVR Power 4.5 put in my T350 and she is booked in tomorrow for the 1000 mile service and I can,t wait to see how she goes after that, its been 2 weeks of agony keeping to 3500 revs but first impressions are it is easier to drive as your not constantly up and down the gears, so much smoother and not as noisy as the old 3.6 and seems to have more torque at lower revs which is exactly what I wanted, can,t wait to finally put my foot down and see how she goes but I will still take it easy for the first few hundred miles after 1000 miles service, the service was fantastic in and out in 2 weeks

The 4.5 is a "beast" I had a run in one recently and was very impressed. I had my Cerb 4.0L rebuilt by Dom and it is so much quieter and smoother since he rebuilt it.
I would have loved the 4.3 or the 4.5 but it was too expensive for me at the time but the extra torque lower down the rev range would be nice. But my 4.0L is probably the right amount of power for my driving talent!!.

Enjoy.

I know what you're going through. My T350 is going into Str8six next week for it's 1000 mile service, after being fitted with a 4.3 at the end of last year. All the crappy weather has been playing havoc with the running in.

Let's hope we both get good weather with which to enjoy our new toys.

You can try out my 5.0 later this year if you pop along to one of the H&B meets.

Hi Alex are you having the 4.5 rebuilt or are you having a complete new engine?

Had the 1000 mile service and there was a problem with it cutting out as well and it was the OBD connector I think that's what its called corroded and Dom sorted that for me as well,

Been out for a couple of drives and what an engine so smooth and so much more quite then the old TVR engine and you don't need to go up and down the gears to get her going and it is very very quick and a pleasure to drive with bags of torque, I can,t recommend the engine and service enough I have had from Dom yes

I still can,t floor it past 5000 revs until another 1500 miles then she gets a re-map which is essential for the 4.5 to optimize the engine, but to be honest it feels great as it is, I don,t know what it will be like after the re-map

Strange ... I had a problem with mine cutting out, before I had it mapped. Horrible feeling when you are in the outside lane doing 50mph and it dies.... Trying to get into the inside through traffic with no power frown .

I'm 800 miles from the remap for my 4.5. - again the weather as stopped me doing the miles frown
Don't know how you find yours but where I''d usually drop into 3rd I no longer have to 'cause 4at lower revs has got loads of torque.
As for spinning the rears up -it's sooooo easy now that unless the roads are bone dry you really daren't give it too much of the loud pedal.
God knows how ballistic my tuscan will be after the remap but I can't wait smile
My old 4.0 let go at RAF withering last year where I got to 160 indicated on the speedo. Be interested to see what this 4.5 will do

I would be interested in how the lager bore engine revs. I would assume that it might have more torque from lower revs, but is not as revvy as a smaller 3.6 litre engine. Wrong?
Because for me revving up the S6 is what it's all about! biggrin

The 4.3 revs better, doesn't have the low down torque of the 4.5 thou smile

To answer your questions and the others

It is now ready for the re-map and I can,t wait, I tend not to floor it as it is so easy to spin the wheels and that's in most gears and there is no need as once it gets going it gets going and is blooming quick, it is easier to drive and not constantly up and down the gearbox, the torque is exactly what I was looking for the old 3.6 was so revvy (don,t know about the 4.3) and took lots of revs to get going, I was following a friend in his 3.6 Tamora and we came out of a roundabout and he floored it I just kept up with him and dropped a gear and just flew past him and I kept it below 6000 revs as well as Dom said not to 6000 till it has had its re-map

To keep this simple I cannot compare it to the 3.6 the 4.5 is easier to drive than the 3.6 easier in low gears and just loads of torque and sits at any speed with ease and when you want it to go it will, I have gone quite fast in it on a private road and at 80mph I floored it and was sitting at 140 in no time and it was still pulling but I backed off, I have a Cerb and and 500 Griff and I think this is the quietest and easiest engine to drive and so capable
