Love the way Rory's miss hit set him up ftw wink

Rory is great to watch but strangely not very likeable, shame really.

Ricky has been player of the season for me, transformed himself into a genuine major contender. Must win soon though, else risk the Westwood/Monty/Sergio curse.
Really? You can't look past McIlroy for player of the season, I'd put Rose ahead of Fowler also.

Can't remember when Fowler last won something?
Mcilroy is no doubt the player of the season but whilst Fowler hasn't won he has finished in the top 5 in all 4 majors, no mean feat and he has an ever wisening head head on those young shoulders, great player with a great future.

Still has only 2 professional wins (one of which was in Asia somewhere), nowhere near player of the year, even forgetting Rory then Martin Kaymer won the Players and then lapped the field in the US Open, he timed his hot month well this year.

Ricky's only PGA Tour win actually came as a result of beating Rory in a playoff, Rors has made him his bh ever since smile

Phil and Ricky should be teamed up in Ryder Cup, their best chance of points.

Edit - that posts reads a little harsh on Ricky reading it back, I do like him (for an American) and he finally seems to be backing up the marketing hype around him with good golf (are you watching Poults?). Another string in the bow for Butch Harmon's stable.

Going back to the wedges discussion, was given these 3 by my man at Nike earlier in the week.

The new Nike toe sweep wedges, they have some crazy heel relief as you can see in the picture, Rory used a 59 degree one in his win at Wentworth.

Currently using 54 and 60 VR forged ones, I can see the 60 making it's way into my bag, I only tend to use the 60 from the bunker and if I REALLY need to get it up quick, think the 56 will prove too much of a gap from my 48 degree wedge and I'll lose the ability to hit a 120 yard SW.

Will report back later once I have left the range.

3rd club is a Covert tour 2.0 5 wood with a Motore Speeder 661 that I am hoping will kick my hybrid out of the bag, hate hybrids.

Otherwise will be looking a Ping Rapture driving iron or Titleist 712u but they aren't ideal shot shapes for the course here which all play very soft.

Is "Rors" an actual thing?

Because reading it makes the squinty muscle in my eyelid twitch.

Yes, he had it on his cap back in the pre Nike days.

OK - so it's his fault then, not yours.

(I've gone right off him) (but I'm back onto you)

and unless my eyes decieved me when there was a close up of one of his putts this week as it ran out of gas you could see the word RORS printed on the ball....

Soz guys, Rory is clearly player of the season, it was a rushed post.

For me, Fowler is by far the most improved player, and has been excellent in the Majors. Deserves credit imo.

Rory = just not that likeable for me, amazing player to watch hit shots, hypnitic tempo, but not likeable frown

I'm probably being unfair, just wasn't a very good Open speech, and I haven't seen much else to judge him on. Although I did like him at the RC in 2012, turning up late and winning.

Great talent, and arguably just what Tiger needs as an incentive to get back to in to form

Society day today, came 2nd with 36 points. Wind was crazy for the last 5 holes.

Won some wine and golf balls!

Up early in the morning for club competition.

Well played! How are the wedges under real play conditions?

Any chance someone could post a link for the Scor wedges? I am intrigued.....

Although it's an overhaul between the ears I need.

Put all 3 of the new sticks posted on the last page into play yesterday, was a doubles comp at my club, Betterball front 9 and Greensomes back 9.

Front 9 was ridiculous, there was 12 birdies in our fourball, my partner and I went out in gross 30. We were pretty slack in the back 9 greensomes, +1 which meant we lost on a countback but a good day all in all considering it was 46 degrees when we were coming down 18.

As for the clubs, the 60 degree toe sweep is AWESOME, as is the 5 wood, my old lob wedge and hybrid have been firmly consigned to the cupboard. Jury is stil out on the 56 versus my normal 54 but it could well stay in play given some more course time. Anyone looking for new wedges, I would see if you can give them a try.

Came 10th out of 35 yesterday with 33 points.

Blobbed 2 holes, another day I could have had 38 or 40 points comfortably. Wind was really blowing again.

I'm really enjoying the wedges - they seem to be very consistent and I'm finding them very easy to use.

Also loving the 60 degree out of bunkers, really popping them up nicely.

Yep, I really like the Scor wedges.

I love the fact that I'm not worrying about the bounce. I just choose a wedge based on yardage and hit the same shot regardless of wedge.

They're so flexible. I'm opening them up and playing flop shots easily, from tight lies.

I'm using the 60 degree for close bunker shots or the 55 for longer bunker shots.

They just work, and I'm not thinking about the lie in relation to the bounce.

Very good.

Must admit I'm never one to get too excited about the release of a new range of golf clubs - I've had my current irons 10 years and don't particularly wish to part with them, but every so often a new release comes along to make me think very hard about that. These got announced on Monday:

http://www.nike.com/us/en_us/c/golf/stories/2014-0...

Must admit I'm loving the look of the Vapor Pros. If they do a 1 iron (no sign so far) I could be VERY tempted when they appear later in the year.
