Where was I? Vol 2
Discussion
It was built as an Abbey prior to 1176 in penance for being part of the murder of Thomas Beckett. It dissolved as an Abbey in 1537 and quite a bit of the stone was used to build the nearby Hall.
A western tower is the only bit left (as pictured) it now forms a district church, the stone, as above, has been reused for the Hall:
Much of the remains of the grounds are used for two golf courses.

That's the one! England's greenest city, over 2 million trees - more per person than any other city in Europe - 170 woodlands, 78 public parks, 10 public gardens... one third inside the Peak District National Park. And Beauchief, well within the boundaries towards the south west of Sheffield, down a little lane. Beauchief GS is a public owned course around the abbey, I played it numerous times as a kid.
Over to you.

Sheffield 2m trees, 550000 population. Milton Keynes 22m trees, 230000 population.
Interesting fact?
