TBF It's probably better than trying to centre it perfectly and being 5cm out!

From the bargain basement thread:
Sooner or later they all look like that.

Mine does, anyway.
Yes but if it's knackered at least move the bloody thing back to its parked position.....
That photo annoys me way more than it should.

As well as the gravel not being in it's designated area.

Shirley that's not the worst bit, the log burners not even in the middle! That would really annoy me...

Can't quite be sure, but please tell me the burner's door isn't hinged on the right - meaning when open you'd have to pass the logs around the door into the burner.

In order of annoyance:-

Log burner would do my nut - I'd have to move that immediately

Rug - easy but very important fix

Cant tell if it is a lens effect but the plug sockets on the right don't look parallel to the floor. Unacceptable!

Brick issues - either I'm not seeing it or I'm cured!

No I spent 5 mins looking at the left hand side and couldn't see anything wrong. The only funny bit looked to be the back right hand side, but a brick is only a certain fixed length and can only be spaced out so far before the gaps start to look a bit silly.

Also the bond is different at the back of the fireplace - can't remember the names but above the mantel is straightforward overlapping bricks and the back has some a 90 degrees.

(and no, I can't see the OPs problem either)

I'm not certain that it's an Inglenook though - isn't that when the fire's in a walk in alcove?

to be fair I've just twigged that the brick pattern at the back of the alcove is different from the other patterns...

<brickwork geek mode> Flemish bond at the back, stretcher bond above the lintel and (annoyingly to the reveals too). The bonding in the back has not been set out from the centre resulting in different narrow widths of brick showing at each end of alternate course (which I think is the OPs's issue). Had the opening been built a few mm narrower, the whole thing would have been less visually 'jarring' (and the brickie could have got away with his poor setting out).As already said though, it would be a secondary annoyance compared with the offset wood burner position wink

I bet the OP is well pleased he even mentioned it now!

Are you talking about the bricks at the back on the right hand side of the picture?

Here's a close up of the left hand side, each brick is about 10mm wide, if it had been spaced properly the bricks on the right could have been trimmed slightly less

.....and yes the door is hinged to the right.

Thanks for all the additional spots! My parents have just sold the house so it's never going to bother me again, other than missing my childhood home that my Mum has owned for over 30 years frown

Nope. The upper units.. the handles are mirrored on the right - but not on the left.
If you study the base units on that wall they're hinged any way they want, to be honest the wall units could be hinged two left hanged doors on the left and two right hanged doors on the right or as is the right hand side in the picture a pair of doors either side.

What would really get me is the fake pillars on the wall units, one on the left next to the kitchen door and a pair either side of the hob but not one on the right next to the wall.

Me and the good lady were having a post-work drink in our local beer garden, when I glanced over her shoulder and noticed this:

That was me done: I had to carefully assure her that, yes I was listening and then sheepishly explain why I was staring at next door's gutter stones..

to be fair the teacher probably had to write out 40 of those whilst probably having her nerves completely torn ragged by 40 children just like yours, hopped up on the child-crack you probably fill their lunchbox with. Never made a spelling or writing error then?
