My elderly old grey has just wandered into the living room and let rip, obliviously. Then looks round with the wonderful confused ears askew look only a dog can do then wandered over for a fuss trailing a putrid green cloud of chemical warfare behind.

Being a bloke i find this hilarious. Don't half stink though.

We had one dog that rarely farted but when she did by Christ did they stink!

One evening she let rip with a fart that Saddam Hussain would've considered a bit too harsh to drop on the Kurds. The dog sniffed, got up, walked a few paces and laid down again. A minute or so later she farted again, sniffed, got up, walked a few paces and laid down.

This happened 7 or 8 times in ten minutes, we were too busy laughing at her reaction to puke rofl

Cats do it too. Indiana Jones (or Windy Pops as she quickly became known) would chill out so much as she was being groomed as a kitten, this ungodly stench would waft over you but she was a Persian so you had to carry on . Gah.

Our daft thing does similar.

There's a little squeak from it's bum, followed by a foul smell, he sniffs the air & looks around all confused as if to say where did that come from.

My god I've only read the four replies so far and I'm in stitches.

Our Pug would do audible farts and plenty of them; usually squeekers, however they rarely smelt but were hilarious to hear, when we got our Frenchie she had awful wind; silent but deadly, however since a change of diet she rarely farts now.

Until we had the Pug I always thought that generally dog farts were always silent.

Our RR goes through periods of a bad stomach ... we're still not sure of the cause but christ, when he farts its like a dirty bomb, you can almost see a heat haze. He doesn't even react so there's no warning ... just a thick blanket of air-scented ste which hits your face like you've just run into a wall. vomit

Ours rarely do. But one comes into the kitchen, sits, then lets off a small noise which reverberates through the tiles.......

A few years ago I was visiting a cousin who is a sheep farmer. There are always dogs around the farmstead. There were about five of us waiting to go in the house, and I hung back so I could drop one before going in.
So after everyone else had gone in I let slip with a silent one. Didn't realise that at that exact moment one of his dogs has sneaked up behind me and decided to sniff my arse! Just heard a mix of cough and sneeze and the poor bugger ran off to end of the garden.
Poor dog probably thought it was some sort of defence mechanism. Never approached me on the way out...

This reminded me of our old dog, she used to run up the chair & sit on the window sill in the lounge to watch for cats (much to the annoyance of my Mum).

She was perched in her usual spot on the window sill one day when she farted. She can't have been expecting it as it made her jump & she fell down! Never went up there again!

Friends had a labrador which used to fart (silently), reach back to sniff it's rear end, and then walk off in disgust.

Closely followed by seeing your dog crapping in the garden, knocking on the window, and laughing when he turns to look at you mid-squat.

Our Pug would look embarrassed and tried to put his back to you when he was curling one out, it was so funny.

Our Staffy won't go if your watching either. She does a great fake version though when put out at night, we have to send her twice as she runs around the corner & pretends the first time.

We had a Lab who used to fart loudly, scare herself and then run off.

I also remember that my mum used to fart and blame it on the dog...
