It's a VW Karmann Ghia - not that rare, and not a supercar, they are very slow!
Yeah, there's a load of those VW karmanns in our work carpark. Think they're the new Ford focus...https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&...
fking loads of them.
On the return from Euro Finals @ Santa Pod I refueled at "Aachener Land",
walked out of the store and realized : No, that´s not a replica.
took some photos with my semi-trusty K 850i, then the Driver came to his car.
" SS from 1928 ? " I asked, to which he replied : "No, 1930, with race body, and....how do you know that ??"
I said something like " Isn´t that general knowledge ? ".........grinning, and he started to smile.
I saw the silver Goodwood Stickers, 5 or 6 from the last years stuck over the other,
and asked how much of these existed.
He told me that there are about 150 SSK, but from this model only two survived.
Then he and his co-pilot donned their leather caps and goggles and fired the beast up,
just after I realized that my iffy phone also takes Video.
When they drove away, I think the Driver -just- gave it a Little more revs than needed.....:-)
I still wonder about the classic british license plate (Driver seemed to be german),
and how much money just roared past me,
cudos to that man (if it was his car) for driving back from Goodwood, on wheels, in traffic.
