I asked axa (my current insurer) for a quote for a 2007 year car. They told me that they can only provide 3rd party cover due to the age. Anyone else had this or know if it's the same with rsa etc?

Definately the same with RSA, all cars over 7 years old (even my Ferrari) are third party only.

Contact AIG (john.waldron@aig.com is who I've been dealing with)

Thanks, did you get fully comp from AIG on your 360?

Not true. They can do it but they need a special policy. Call staff usually either don't know or can't be bothered to find out. I had a fully comp quote for a Porsche that never got bought last year. Pretty sure. It was RSA

Thanks Del, AIG were very helpful. Much more slick than axa and happy to do full comp up to 10 years old.

I'd love to know how that works Phil.... I'd had my Corvette with them for 2 years, when it came up for renewal in 2013 it was 8 years old and they refused point blank to insure it fully comp, I even spoke to one of the senior managers there and was told the 7 year rule is unbreakable.

Hence finding AIG who are covering my 360 (1999) Fully comp with no issues.

i've been with them since i bought it. the renewal letter came through last week and clearly states it's fully comp. 3rd party wouldn't do as that doesn't come with desert recovery and towing cover.

From AIG:

We do offer comprehensive cover for vehicles – however we only offer this under our high net worth policy. In order to qualify we need to hold either a vehicle of a minimum value of AED 350,000 and/or a home/contents policy with a minimum sum insured of AED 500,000.

So that's a No for me.

I have a 10yr old Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante, a rare 6-sp manual to boot, that has been substantially renovated - and I want to get comprehensive insurance for a reasonable/agreed value. I have existing cover from RSA, and they've agreed to extend it 1 more year - but at a value of 130k AED; this is way below what it's actually worth. I've emailed John at AIG and am awaiting a response - but is there another insurer out there anyone can recommedn who would cover me/it? Possibly a Classic Car insurer?

Thanks.

Thanks shirt, but the next post down after yours gave info that they weren't helping with this kind of issue. Are they more amenable now?

The wife's car was bought in 2006 and AXA gave her fully comp this year at renewal time which was April.
