Amusing article in a recent edition of the Metro.

Apparently your usefulness to society can often be based on the shape of a man's shoes - the more pointed the toe, the less useful role you play in society.

As an example, take a look at the shoes of a policeman and those of an estate agent!!

True...?

What about those of us that often wear a variety of shoes?

My steel toes for work are very rounded at the front, my trainers for dossing around in are also rounded...

My smart shoes are fairly pointy (by comparison), but so are my rock climbing shoes, which are utterly useless for anything but climbing!

I rarely wear shoes - I'm a barefoot runner too. So.. um, yeah a really good article, that!

So.. In theory if I wear pointy shoes, I'm useless, thus no-body will ask me for help?

Sounds like a result to me

I love pointy heels. Wear them all the time. Does that make me and all womanhood pointless to society then. Mr QueenBee loves me in them and finds me useful in them too.

I bet you couldn't operate heavy machinery in them, though.

At home I wear either chunky brogues, canvas Converse or brown lace up chunky boots.

At work I have just gone from pointy stylish shoes to chunky DM shoes as I'm fed up having to dispose of my pointy fashionable shoes after about three months because they get wrecked.

What does all that say about me, surely I can't be useless one day and then helpful the next just because I've decided to wear different shoes?

I call bullst. I wear rounded shoes that are not clown shoes and I'm a teacher. Therefore, according to PH, a lefty, liberal, yoghurt knitting, useless overpaid skiver.

Are you the estate agent who came to my house a few months back? I'd swear he had those shoes on!

I asked him to take them off at the doorstep just to see the struggle he'd face when he had to try and wedge his feet back into them before leaving!
