My steering wheel is grubby. There's dirt in the suede that gives you black hands when you drive.

What's the best way to clean it?

Baby wipes ......

Not kidding use these on the alcantara sections on my steering wheel and brings it up like new again, surprising how much crap they lift off.

Pull it off and give it a good wash with warm soapy water. Will come up like new once dry.

Depends if its suede or alcantara.

If alcantara, its very robust (synthetic) and can be cleaned pretty harshly.

If suede, you will need to be much more careful.

I'm not sure there's an easy way to tell...if its got smooth or shiny in places then its almost certainly suede, as alcantara is much harder wearing and not prone to going shiny.
