Looking for new discs and pads for my focus ST and came across this package.

I don't know if it's too cheap or not though, any info appreciated

It is just a set of discs & pads with a brand name onit, so I would say it is about right.

It is NOT an upgrade of any kind if that is what you are looking for.

It should be an upgrade from my standard low pads and warped discs at the end of their life hehe

They ask if you want Drilled, drilled & grooved, grooved or dimpled and grooved. Considering the car won't be tracked, (Do like to give it the beans occasionally though) which would be the best in your opinion? I'm not really clued up with it.

Driiled can have a tendancy to crack from the holes (have even had this with AP discs before)

As dimpled is just half-depth holes I have avoided these since also.

Grooves are supposed to have the same effect but without the chance of cracking.

But TBH if the car is not tracked & the pads are not upgraded to a more "sticky" compound I would recommend nothing, as any surface dressing ultimately reduces the contact area of the pad.

Grooved can help release the gas buildup when really leaning on them and de glazes the pads
You'll get more wear but better brakes on the limit
As the discs are already vented you won't need cross drilling
For better braking pads such as Mintex are good, I have heard mixed reviews on Green stuff if your on the road

Anything with EBC in the name I have found to be expensive cr@p.

If you want good pads go for Pagid, Pagid, or Pagid.

Mintex are a good second.

It isnt a case of drilled discs may crack, they will crack.

I would never choose them for a road car, or one where I wasnt prepared to change discs often.

Grooved, dimples, plain etc all no problem.

As for quality...they're pretty cheap discs so can only assume low quality follows suit.

They do state Ferodo pads, but they will be bog standard Ferodo pads. But still Ferodo, not anything competition related.

You could enquire with Ford too, sometimes disc/pad kits arent that expensive, and you know they are OEM quality.

Having done some more research on m-tec there seems to be a lot of praise about their discs. They're never going to be Brembo standard but for the price they 'seem' very good.

Just realised that I have actually used them before (didn't check the name when I first looked at your post) the only issue I had is as above the drilled discs cracked.

As I said earlier either use solid or at most grooved (not required on the road)

I'll be stearing clear of the drilled discs, they do look nice though. Might go for dimpled.

For a road application, drilled / grooved / dimpled is 100% gimmick. What you want is new discs and OEM Ford pads.
