I checked over my grand Cherokee yesterday looking for reasons it drifts to the left. I've noticed a little play in the tie rod ends, and as I've no experience of working on these components I could use some advice.
I've made a video clip of the tie rod being checked, is anyone with experience on this willing to pm me their e-mail so I can send the video file for an opinion if they need replacing ?

Thanks

I find the easiest way to check for play is to hold the joint while someone rocks the steering, you can pickup movement in the rod end compared to the hub better than just looking.

Can you not stick the video on youtube or photobucket etc & share a link?

Seems the tie rod ends are worn so I need to buy replacements.
I dont think I need to spend out on Moog items as i dont do extreme off roading, and there expensive !
Im looking for OEM quality, any suggestions where to go ?
Im suspicious of cheap stuff of flea-bay.

Thanks

Rockauto seems very cheap on the Moog parts compared to 4playjeeps.com
Are the parts in the UK, or coming in from the USA and customs have to be paid ??

If they have a euro flag next to them they are in the EU so no duty, looks like the moog ones are

just for info, these are the Jeep part numbers for WJ RHD rod ends:

near side TRE - 52088869AA
off side TRE - 52088870AA

Steering drag link, pitman end - 52088511
steering drag link, axle end - 52088512

rock auto has moog in all but the last one which is a RHD specific one, but stick the part number in ebay and there are UK sellers

The Rock auto site lists 4 items under tie rods, but there not giving the OEM part number so i dont know which one is which.
I understand the drag arm end link is a Chrysler OEM part only, no Moog item availible.

search the rock auto site for the part numbers I listed rather than browse for it wink The axle end drag link is a RHD special, can be had from plenty other than Chrysler, will check what my mate got as all his other stuff was Moog. Crown certainly do them but I don't rate them, they are what in the Landy world Britpart are to the Jeep world

Ive just been on the Moog website to cross reference the Moog part numbers against the Rockauto discription/numbers. The Moog website gives you a drawing so you can be sure your picking the right part.

Get my order in today wink
