Them to know my name and be ready on time
A quality cup of coffee whilst we swap keys and sign stuff
Not to have salesman try to sell me any extra guff last minute at some huge markup
Not to have every switch and feature pointed out in infinite detail
1/4 tank of juice (here we go again) so I can go the long way home without filling up.
It to be outside and pointing the right way for a quick getaway.
A follow up phone call after a couple of days to check all is ok.
= me satisfied.

I think that's how I'd want it, stuff the follow on texts etc. I'd want to arrive, pay, pick up and drive off.

If they put a rope around it, placed flowers on the bonnet or draped it in a silk sheet, I'd be very unhappy.

That's just me though. smile
Nope, me too. I am not interested in bullst. Then again, I am pretty cynical these days!
I'm with you on the silk sheet etc but would you really object to having it roped off in the showroom to warn others about running their grubby little hands all over it?

Collected my new Cayman S from West London Porsche yesterday afternoon.

There was no silk sheet but I didn't care, I just wanted to look at the car from every angle.

Paperwork took longer than I thought it would but otherwise it was a great experience. All options present and correct. I have never been so paranoid about scooters and London traffic but it's fair to say that I'm loving it so far.

congrats, its a great experience and a day you will always remember, only thing is once you get used to buying new cars, it then becomes a tad addictive and expensive wink

Must be a nightmare for a dealer to handover the car indoors under artificial light; every swirl, minor scratch, finger mark, water run, flaw etc would stand out a mile off.

The condition of a new car should be perfect and flawless however they very rarely are.

I'm a regular over at Detailing World Forum and I spent a good 20 minutes inspecting the paint, the showroom lights were a big help. I'm glad to report that it was pretty good with only some very minor swirl marks at the top of one of the A pillars that I'm confident I can easily rectify. Otherwise it was perfect.

I went to porsche in Liverpool, on 01/08/94 to pick up my new 993. I was waiting outside with my wife and son for the salesman to drive the car down the ramp above the merc showroom. We were smiling happily, until he reversed it into a concrete flower pot !!!!!

The wheels are 20" Carrera Classics painted satin platinum. The wheels and the satin platinum are both Cayman options.

I particularly like how the combination of thin spokes painted a dark colour with a satin finish really shows off the red callipers.

My first car, lightly used boxster, was inside the OPC.
Not much of a hand over - just given the keys and shown the door.
Goodie bag in the boot. Paid top $ for the car though.

Second time, used 911, was outside just parked in the car park.
Similar hand over but no freebies... but got a very sweet deal on the car - so just wanted to get out of there before they changed their minds! biggrin

Third time still to come, but its a new car so interested to see what the difference is. No trade in and no finance so I expect it will be keys and told to vacate their showroom!

Got two nice bottles of red in a Porsche box when I got mine.

Very pleasant experience but I'm not a fan of pomp so I cut the chat short, dismissed the attempts to talk me through the vehicle, grabbed the keys a proceded to drive it like I stole it...

Silk covers? Ribbons? Do me a favour...

The second to last one I got was a 991 with the number plates fixed crooked and greasy finger marks on the windows. These however were enhancements to a car that was fundamentally rubbish.

The second 991 was handed over to me in the car park with a hint of disgust because I had rejected the first.

The combination of which will probably ensure that I will never buy a new Porsche again. Which is a blessing because at least I swerved the new GT3, which is a bullet dodged quite frankly.

wow some of these stories, i was treated extreme well when i purchased my new Turbo S last year from east london branch. got various porsche gifts and post delivery was invited to 3 Porsche hospitality events all free of charge. i guess much depends on who 'runs' the porsche dealerships i guess.
