Hi guys,

Failed MOT on my '06 a3 2.0 TDi BKD over the weekend on tyre and headlight beam pattern. Now I had a knock in it months ago where I hit a curb pretty hard and burst tyre and took a small chunk out of alloy and I have noticed that one headlight is brighter than other and that is the one that failed on beam pattern. I thought maybe the bulb was not seated correctly so I got 2 new bulbs but don't think it has made a difference. Any ideas what else I could check or do I have to get new headlight unit?

Cheers
Seenan

When it said failed on beam pattern, couldn't it be the case that the one that was damaged is just sitting higher/lower than the other? If this is the case should be a simple adjustment required?

I was hoping it was a simple adjustment issue but i cant seem to find any adjuster that make a difference to the beam pattern that is showing up. To tell the exact beam pattern without the box mirror reflector thing that they use but just by looking at the two sides it can be noticed that side is definitely brighter and when i look at the lights in the garage that side does show a more random beam pattern. I had to order a new headlight as I am stuck for answers now.I bought two new bulbs and re seated them but didn't make a difference. only other thing I can think of is maybe a fuse issue? wrong rated fuse maybe?
It is quite frustrating as I need to take it for MOT retest tomorrow!
