Excellent, they are not my nearest OPC by a long way in fact they are around 150 miles from me. However, its a lovely drive down there from where I am in Essex so it makes a nice day out.
A great way to get to know the car smile

Ironic - they are my nearest OPC yet I am buying mine from Dick Lovett in Swindon, 50 miles further away after I had a "failure to agree" with Bournemouth a few years back.....

Not possible to please all the people all the time I guess...

Given the car a clean today, I when to go and get some proper pictures and then it rained. So put it in the garage quickly.

I did get a few.

Beautiful car, congratulations! Shame the Porsche wheel crest is slightly misaligned....

smileMorning Folks. Deposit down on Cayman GTS a few weeks back at OPC Silverstone. Now for the long wait - probably Nov lock down for a Feb/March 2016 delivery. Time to sell a kidney & play Porsche configurator.

A bit of background: Have previously owned new Boxster S (Gen 1), 993 Cab & more recently 996 turbo. Currently drive a 325d coupe which I'am finding too 'soft' & a bit boring. But didn't know where to go from here. I need a daily drive but only a 5 mile commute to work. So I popped over twice to OPC Silverstone to test drive the macan Petrol - I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It's undeniably a great car & drives like a proper Porsche but it didn't leave a smile on my face. So on my second visit I had a quick test drive in the Cayman GTS - big grin & £3000 deposit later.

I'am looking forward to all your advice on options etc Already have picked up some useful comments re X73 SS.

Only on a thread on here about X73 SS - most peeps seem to feel it's a better choice. Although I'am a long way off on spec'ing mine I would probably have automatically gone for PASM as would have thought X73 might be too harsh. I hope to get the chance to try both when I get my PEC day in the GTS. But from comments on here I would be leaning towards X73 SS.

I'd agree that the majority on the forum prefer SS - many for appearance alone. But it is 10mm lower and the GTS nose is lower than other 981s - so bear that in mind. It would be a killer for me, and my drive isn't radical.

It's been a killer deciding on colour for the Cayman GTS. Thought I had decided on Carmine - but now not sure. It's probably going to be a decider on Carmine vrs White. I guess I really need to travel to some OPC's to see some in the flesh. There is the cost of the Carmine, but if it looks the nuts I don't mind. But from pics its hard to tell. Does anyone know what the main differences are between solid white & Carrera White? As also quite like white with satin wheels. Blimey, have nine months of dithering!

You can fit the X73 Springs and ARBs onto a PASM chassis.

Not being that technical - is there any advantage doing that or would you simply go for X73 on the options?

There are a few guys in the USA that have done this. Not sure how the setup works with the switchable dampers, but it appears to be a relatively straightforward install.

The standard ARBs are hollow and the X73 are solid, like those on the GT3. These are a straight swap.

I went for carrara white metallic on my Boxster GTS in combination with the gloss black GTS exterior pack and the Carrera S wheels with gloss black and the result was absolutely stunning. I complemented this with the standard GTS leather / Alcantara interior with interior package painted and centre console trim painted all in Carrara white. The white exterior with black accents and black interior with white accents blend in superbly IMO. With the expensive GTS interior pack the dark carbon makes the interior very dark, I'm not particularly keen on the carbon, but this, like choice of colours, is a very personal thing.

I had a shortlist of colours, solid white was one of them, didn't shortlist Carrara, but when I saw solid white alongside Carrara white it was a no-brainer. Solid white is an off white shade, whereas Carrara is a pure, bright white.

I have PASM, but appreciate the extra feel provided by the X73 setup. I think most of it comes from the sway bars rather than the smaller springs, so I'm going to swap these in the summer when I start to do some track work.

The really big difference is the rear ARB (sway) - 46% stiffer than stock
