Gents, let's state it clearly.
We all agree that steering wheel is not for a sports car, do we?

Horses for courses, but imo its fking ruins the car. Why ever have pdk without the paddles.

A significant part of the problem is that Porsche haven't put even a couple of buttons on the "sport" steering wheel. Pain in the backside in RHD cars where the radio volume knob is over the other side of the car behind the gear stick.

yeah understand this but gear shifting (manual pdk course) is such a primary input vs. stereo besides who wants to alter the music just set it once and listen to the exhaust smile

although that said my PSE is broke at the moment with the OPC

To be fair, it's not that obvious from the configurator that if you specify the MF wheel you lose the (standard) paddles on the GTS. Bizarrely paddles are not even offered as an option on the base and S Caymans (presume Boxsters are the same).

I have paddles and, while they are better than flippers that Porsche persist in using, they are not the greatest either. For a road car (but not a track car) they would be better on the column rather than rotating with the wheel and the lever for selecting the mini display functions sometimes gets in the way of their operation.

Have to say that the sports wheel does look a lot better imo.

yeah I know what you mean about if they where attached to the steering column. But after 8k miles you get use to pulling up and down even when the wheel is upside down. When your pushing on track or road they are just amazing tho. Way better than a stick imo but thats my view.

don't know about you but I spend millions of hours on youtube and google etc... looking at pics even from different markets to ensure my GTS was perfect for me. As an example I worried that (in the US) the indicators are yellow (vs. clear as in uk) and was explicit with the OPC if they produced orange on collection day I wouldn't pay for the car.

Each to there own but, forget the configurator I don't know how you screw up your options. Not enough desk research hehehe

Not convinced about that. In manual "wheel twirling" situations I prefer to use the stick - I know where it is. It also has a solid feel to it that I like. But I use both stick and paddles. While I'm no great fan of Roadcraft I do think it helps if you can adopt a consistent method - which using both paddles and stick (in slightly different circumstances) complicates.

The PCCB's that come with the GTS does anyone know how they compare to the version on the GT4? Same version caliper, smaller disk etc etc.

350mm all round vs 410mm and 390mm. Calipers on GT4 are larger on both front and rear and the discs are also slightly thicker.

Thanks for the info, just what I was after.

I am surprised my steering wheel has caused so much angst!

My thought process:

1. I had the sports steering wheel in my Cayman R and I thought it let the car down.
2. I loved the PDK box and the sound of the gear change...
3. I like MF steering wheels, they make sense.
4. F'ing Porsche won't let you have an MF steering wheel and paddles (!)(unless you purchase a Macan in the US?!)
5. I have bought the MF steering wheel (in carbon) and will get a Techart agent to retro fit paddles for me.
6. Sadly I am in Guernsey so 5. is a tad delayed!

Method in my madness...

The Sports Steering wheel let the car down????

I think it looks superb, love it, especially over the horrific MF wheel.

I do however really miss the buttons on the steering wheel that I have on other cars, but I'm more than happy to not have them so I don't have to have that MF steering wheel!!!

Fully aligned with Sarnie. MF is horrible, but yes no buttons at all on Sport wheel is a bit disappointing sometimes (radio...)

Anyway it is a sportscar, I am not looking for mainstream passenger car features. The sport wheel let you have the proper focus when driving, with no chance to push buttons.

You can change track with the stalk so I suppose it depends how often you change volume and operate the phone. Also I think you can get paddles on all models but you need to pick the sports design wheel (2.7 I test drove had paddles)

Sport design steering wheel is not on the configurator for the S and standard Boxster and Cayman. It may be a drop off but it's not been there for quite a while.

Dare I ask the parts cost?

It was £99 something for the pair of these, so a bit a expensive upgrade.
