Our kitten is called Snow White. Are we OK? Or do we need to change that.

You can guess what her 7 kittens are called (heightist, at all?)

I'm not sure who's worse? people saying Clarkson is racist (when the truth is he just knows how to push peoples buttons and VERY little of what he does seems without prior thought - this included) or the people who defend him by pointing out English people used to call black dogs ????

Wow, they managed to find 4 people to accuse him of racism, including one with a made up name. Proof conclusive!

We have an East Asian Lowland Terrier, named Slope. Guess we are racist now? He loves to slope off and hide watches in cracks, hence his name...
I bet the one with the made-up name is Clarkson.

Is it better to be a racist or to make crass racially-tinged remarks with the aim of drumming up publicity? Neither are particularly admirable really are they?

The second lot are worse btw.

genuine Q here though - is it racist? No-one would bat an eyelid if you were to call your fat, white staffie Rooney or your argumentative, antisocial terrier Richie Blackmore

It isn't necessarily racist no. The slope comment was though, which is what has prompted this current dog-related idiocy.

I would have thought you'd have called it Farage, as in your eyes every time it has a st it turns to gold.

The HIGNFY thing was amusing and awkward.
Not quite sure how Henning took it, he was smart to play it the way he did though, got the laugh....there was a tint of menace in the 'mate' there though?

I didn't realise Henning Wehn was on it. I'll have to see if I can find it online now.

I saw a photo of JC's black dog somewhere online earlier. It's a bit silly, reminds me of the black Labrador in the Dambusters film and that woman that's had her boobs and teeth done on the NHS that's about to abort her unborn so she can appear on Big Brother.

Something can be a slang term without being derogatory - Geordie, Cockney, Frog, Aussie, Yank etc etc.

I once knew someone who had a dog called Dougie Dogally, after Sportscene presenter:

I'm not sure how Didier Dogba is any different. People were more rational in the 80s......

Frog and Yank, and to some extent Cockney, certainly have just a smidgeon of the derogatory about them.
