A grey 928GT was originally registerd on that plate 30/05/1991. It did have a private plate put on in 1998 (H1 V**) but appears to be back on H982 FKL now.

It last changed hands in August this year - on that plate.

Can't believ someone did not tip off the locals, for a bit of childish colour to the show and it got out of hand.

Bit pathetic on both sides to be honest.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has admitted he is to receive points on his driving licence after being caught speeding.

The controversial car enthusiast said he was snared by a fixed camera while driving from Whitby in North Yorkshire to London and was driving so fast he wasn't offered the option of taking a speed awareness course to avoid points.

The revelation comes just weeks after he and his fellow Top Gear presenters created a storm of controversy for using a number plate apparently referring to the Falklands conflict while filming the BBC Two show's Christmas special in Argentina.

Writing in his weekly Sun newspaper column Clarkson, 54, said: "Last month I wrote in a blind fury about how many speed cameras I'd encountered on a drive from Whitby to London.

"Well, it seems one of them got to me.

Headline should read.

'Shock: Motorist one of many thousands caught driving over the limit'

Instead it's a lead in for, 'do you remember that time he did that thing? and that other time he got accused of that, yeah, that guy, it was him speeding'

Total non-story.

there seems to be an anti-Clarkson witch hunt at the BBC, and in the media in general.

Easy target I suppose, but some of the things have been ridiculous, the latest incident being one of the sillier.

He also happens to be one of the, if not the biggest 'stars' of the BBC who does not follow their politics, or agenda. Unsurprising he is being targeted then, perhaps. However this is all speculation of course.

Frankly this just shows the Argentinians to be a bunch of humourless idiots. The Top Gear team poke fun at everyone including our own Government, politicians, monarchy, car industry, the Germans, the Swiss, the Australians, the Indians and of course themselves. The purpose of the show is to take the piss out of all manner of stereotypes and figures of authority. I always loved the fact that Clarkson used to refer to the CEO of VAG Bernt Pietschrieder as Burnt Fishtrousers. Most of us spend our whole lives having to take s*it from above - every company I've ever worked for is mostly staffed by incomepetent directors who hand down yet another corporate crap initiative from on high that makes no bloody difference at all and collect a huge bonuses for rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The monarchy are a bunch of freeloading tossers and so are many of the politicians and bankers of all states. The joy of Top Gear comes largely because it is the only programme where three 'everymen' get a voice and are able to hurl some sh8it back at those at the top and I for one find it hugely funny and strangely cathartic!!

In short those three live a life the rest of us can only dream of making a mockery of the bigoted hypocrasy that goes on in the world in the name of industry, commerce, religion, monarchy and Government. It's a bit like when the Beatles were booted out of the Phillipines when Imelda Marcos took exception to them snubbing her by not attending a state function because it was their day off. In her clouded mind it's clearly fine that she repressed millions but one declined dinner invitation from a pop group and the sh*t really hit the fan...

Bravo Top Gear - may you continue mocking and challenging 'the establishment'

A valid point, and yes, they do mock, and rightly so, the establishment and so forth. However, as they have said, and somewhat shown by previous form, they would never be so crass as to mock the victims of a war, either the british contingent or the Argentinean conscripts.

Top gear have never mocked those who have died in the armed forces before, and I doubt they would.

Had they meant to play a jibe on the Argentineans then I would think that they would be far more likely to mention the economy, rather than a pretty unpleasant conflict though use of a somewhat obscure numberplate on a car that Clarkson has always admitted to being a fan of.

The buying of the car only a month or so before the trip also suggests to me that it was not intentional, especially as there are few examples of the car.

They would definitely never do that.

It's the media lefty and environmental luvvies who hate cars and people enjoying themselves.

Even BBC radio news deemed Jemmery's speeding ticket worthy of national news coverage on Saturday.

When I take over, they're in for a rude awakening...

Argentine Ambassador Demands BBC Apology Over Top Gear Falklands Licence Plate Row

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/10/21/argenti...

Article said:
Argentina's ambassador to Britain on Tuesday demanded an apology from the BBC over an ill-fated trip by car show "Top Gear" to the South American country.

The programme's crew had to leave Argentina hastily last month after they faced violent protests for driving a car with licence plate H982 FKL — interpreted by some as a reference to the country's 1982 war with Britain over the disputed Falkland Islands.

The BBC insists the licence plate was a coincidence, and host Jeremy Clarkson has accused Argentine officials of whipping up anger for "political capital."

The Argentine embassy in London said Ambassador Alicia Castro had complained to the BBC about Clarkson's "provocative behaviour and offensive remarks toward the government and the Argentine people" and called for an apology.

"Furthermore, the Argentine ambassador deeply regretted Jeremy Clarkson's entirely false accusations of alleged resentment against British citizens in Argentina," the embassy said in a statement.

Earlier this month, a spokesman for the show told Huffington Post UK: “Production decided what cars they wanted for the trip and the budget per car. A production assistant bought three cars.

“An Argentinian newspaper decided that as the number plate contains the letters FKL and number 982, it must be a reference to the war. It is not. Nor did Jeremy choose or purchase the car.”

In regards the Ambassador's request, the BBC said it would follow its usual complaint procedures.

Thanks for the link, which has already brightened the day smile

Lovin' this from Suzanne Moore: "[Clarkson] is part of a group seeking not only to put a brake on social progress, but to drag us backwards"

Conspiracy alert wobble

Social progress - typical of the left-field player to stick the word 'social' in front of something else to make a new synthetic term that right-on people can repeat when speaking with each other. The same fate has been met by words such as protection, cohesion and inclusion. She also seems to have decided, on behalf of everyone else no less, which way is forwards.

Social progress as defined by SM looks like a significant reduction in freedom of speech and a free political correctness dictionary for everyone paid for out of taxation. Lucky us.

What the illiberal forget is that 'social progress' just charts the progress of society and is the consensus/averaging out of society as a whole. No one group within society owns society not can demand society reflect their group and their group only. That kind of thinking is a creeping fascism that is not just an issue with many 'left' groups (although that kind of intolerance does seem to be common there) but a tendency of most groups sadly.

Agreed on the applicability and creeping fascism fronts, any such attempt to railroad everybody else into your clique's way of thinking and speaking is the road to totalitarianism. That equality apart and as you hinted, the left are past masters at it as seen here from SM, described elsewhere as part of the vanguard of 'Marxism Today'.

Wonder why JC hasn't endorsed UKIP yet? There seems like an impressive overlap in common passions and hatreds.

Can only assume he places a very high value on those invites to Dave's Chipping Norton kitchen suppers.

TG are in Australia filming at the moment. Should we be compiling a list of reg plates that may cause the locals to get upset ?
