Hello to the good people of everything Vauxhall smile

Just trying to garner some information concerning my father in law's 2 year old Astra estate 2 litre oil burner running an automatic gearbox . The problem apparently manifests itself when slowing down from speeds over 55 mph, as the car slows and the transmission begins to downshift from top it's described as 'not being able to make up it mind' over whether to swap into the lower gear or stay as is. As the speed of the car drops further the problem disappears and the lower ratios are engaged normally.

The car is still under vauxhall warranty, however this expires in 3 weeks, the car has been back to vauxhall main dealer twice, first off, Sod's law, problem doesn't manifest itself, car is taken back and driven normally. Transmission shifting problem returns so car booked in again, this time technician takes car on test drive and confirms 'all is not well' with the gearbox to my mother in law,who took the car to the dealership.diagnostic (code reader) carried out, no codes found.

My father in law was contacted concerning this and basically told, 'sorry we cannot find fault with the car, diagnostic shows no fault codes, there like that sir, that's how they drive' ........ Er, no.

my father in law thinks he is now being given the run around until said warranty expires, then obviously, not vauxhalls problem

Sorry for the long winded explanation but was thinking would any body on here know of any common fault,or of any mechanical problems that are apparent with these gearboxes at all? Not upto speed personally on these models so don't know if they are clean sheet or modified older designs?

Cheers all.
