Maybe a special 'hands free' kit developed for fighter pilots and TVR drivers?

At least he had the roof down (or I assume he did). I've seen a number of TVRs this week around London with the hoods up . If you're not going to drive a convertible with the roof down in the weather we've had this week, you need a thorough cranial examination.

I'll confess that I've got a set of custom earplugs I use on the Motorway. If you've passengered in my TVR, you'll understand.

They are large lumps of silicon moulded in really tasty flourescent pink / purple / green / yellow stripes. And yes they are visible as they fit the whole ear, not just the hole in the middle.

I agree with Nacnud! I have been behind his car and could have done with borrowing those ear plugs!

am one of the 'suits' working in the square mile, think that the

comment is a tad generalistic??? - unless all northerns are 'dirty b@st@rds? - which I very much doubt. If you buy a TVR for what it is and not just for something to been seen in, don't matter what you wear - NB no toys were hurt in this mail as they all have paracutes, in case of eviction from their pram !!!

Grrr So now there is a convertible police? For us guys who use the car as a everyday car and not just a "Oooo it looks like its not raining I'll take the car out for a spin" one, it is quite common to have to carry stuff in the boot which means that there is no where to put the roof!

That doesn't take a cranial examination to work out.
Anyway the car accelerates faster with the roof up

Well it's roof off for me going home from work to day, even if it's pi$$ing down , I'm usually a roof down unless it's raining type, but this morning I couldn't be ar$ed, and what do I come across on the drive to the office, all with roof down, a Boxster, an MX5, and an MGF, made me feel a right wuss

Yeah, I drive in to the City a few times a week! In a suit, like d_drinks...

Still love my car for what it is though, not for what it makes me look like, (although the admiring glances are appreciated )

I presume it's ok to leave the roof on for a six minute run to the station as well? The TVR is my only car, so the opportunity to take the roof off every time I get in is not always practical.

I agree with Steve Heath about the roof thing, often the boot is too full of stuff for the roof too - although not too often
Do you know what really gets my goat!? :goatbeinggot: Those Bloody MX-5 and MGF drivers who buy a funcking hard top for it and then leave it on for the summer - I MEAN WHAT THE FUNKS THAT ALL ABOUT THEN!!!??????

There I feel better - glad it's Friday.

Completely agree Steve ! I use the car every day come rain or shine, but on some of the shiny days (the few that we have) I need to have stuff in the boot.

Now I'd love to just leave the lid at home but you just can't trust this weather, shiny in the morning often leads to it pi$$ing down late afternoon.

Oh, the trials and tribulations of top down motoring

Agree on the roof thing!
Us everyday drivers often cannot physically store the roof in the boot everytime we go out, but always seem to get stick from the weekend brigade!
Sometimes there may be no excuse most mostly there is!
Cheers.... Andrew

I was driving round the M25 yesterday not with earmuffs and suit on though, but with the roof down. The noise is sufficent not to be able to talk to your passenger which in my case was a great asset. I dont know about driving down to S. France I should think 8/10 hours at 80/90mph would be more than I could stand.

sorry I cant agree, I bought the thing with a removalable roof, and Im gunna take it off!

get the stuff out the boot, there cant be more than you can carry in there, otherwise it means you leave it in there, so WHY is it in there!, so the boot cant be full., stick the stuff in the bit behind your seat, and get the roof off.

if it does rain abit, stay above 30 mph, it goes over the top. if it doesnt, it gets wet, so what? it leaks in the winter anyway, so its used to it!

I used to be a suit... don't think that disqualifies you from owning a TVR for the right reasons.
