Hi Guys,
ive got a 2009 370Z GT,out of the blue neither smart fob will open or close the car, replaced batteries, still no good,
I can get in with the smart key and it will start with the fob in the slot but not if its just in my pocket, never had this happen before,
can anyone help before I get raped by the Nissan dealer?

Are you sure the batteries you fitted are the correct type and are good ?

The batteries dont last as long on the keyless 370 since they transmit all the time unlike conventional systems

Have you thought about an auto locksmith? I bought an old-ish Lexus with only one fob that didn't remote lock/unlock. Local auto-locksmith decoded it, reprogrammed it, cut a new key and reprogrammed that too, all for £20. I then found the "door dance" with a google search, which gives instructions for adding more fobs/transponders to the car's ECU. I would imagine there's a similar method for Nissan.

Lexus dealer's initial thoughts were a whole new locking & ignition system, to the tune of about £800.

Obviously by now its not the fact they're in your pocket next to your iPhone or something because that hinders the signal.

Have a look at the below thread. Interestingly someone else had a similar problem, changed the battery but still had the same problem. They then voltage checked the "new battery" only to find it was a dud.
In the end a fresh set of working batteries remedied the problem. Simple.

Seems strange that BOTH your remotes aren't working at the same time but nissans remotes can lock and unlock it.
I dont suppose you keep them next to a magnet the size of the LHC in Geneva do you?

One other question. Do you alternate the use of your key fobs or not? I do because it avoids the unused one going flat (which, strangely, most key fobs tend to do with no use).

I would (for what its worth) get them to try another set of batteries - just so your sure before you buy 2 new key fobs and programme them

ok quick update.....yesterday Nissan called and said they had found water in the keyless receiver box,its got a printed circuit board in it and the water mustve wrecked it surely??,
how much is a new receiver i say...£450 plus vat!!...oh st i say and reach for my Jack Daniels!!..
found a company breaking a 370Z and they have said part £40 delivered..result smile,
took the part to Nissan to see if it would be a simple case of plug in and go,but no,looks like its gotta be programmed again..or its not the receiver at fault,
hopefully it will be Monday now before i know the outcome.....god knows where the water came in??

theres a display on the dash that tells you when the batteries are low,i dont alternate the fobs as ive never had trouble with them before, the fobs have been tested and they are emitting the signal fine

YEEEAAAHH..the 370Z is fixed smile....just had a call from Nissan,it was the keyless receiver at fault, and the part i managed to get worked a treat,it just needed the fobs recoding to the receiver,
i hope this may help someone out in the future if you have the same fault
