Anyone know where you can get 1'' MGB wheel spacers from? I am looking for the type with the stud extensions.

Thanks,
Jack

No its not. I have seen them and I'm quite sure they are for minis.

Oops, the google search has firmly cocked-up there. Jack, tell me, why are you wanting wheel spacers for your B'? If you're wanting to widen track or maybe increase tyre size, the proper way to do this is to measure your offset and buy correctly sized wheels. As a note, unless spacers are very correctly sized the mechanical mating/strength between wheel and hub is lost. This will add unacceptable stress to the wheel studs. I'm just going through this process with my V8 conversion and will be fitting 15" with correct offset and PCD...and suitably sized tyres.

I actually nearly bought them until i saw at the top they were under the mini section. My aim is to widen the stance and fill my sebring arches. I have 7x15 wolf race alloys which don't quite look right when compared to how the 8x15 minilites fill arches. My eventual aim is to get some proper sized minilites but I would rather spend the funds elsewhere at the moment.

I had a set which had arrived in one of the many boxes of bits I buy from time to time.

I sold them for astonishingly good money (£20ish) considering they were a death trap, truly horrible design you would be mad to use them.

If you must go down this road go to an engineering company and get them to make a set of spacers with a doughnut design and embedded studs that bolt on 45 degrees out of phase with the existing studs then present a new set of studs, it's still a horrible bit of engineering but you have a better chance of the wheels staying on the car, the screw on stud extenders with the spacer are a nasty design.

But I wouldn't use either I'd use wheels which fit properly.

I'd read on the MGexp forums that the proper kits won't accelerate hub wear or fall off. They did suggest that certain kits should be avoided and recommended a couple of engineering outfits who build and supply the kits in the US which looked really nice. Proper CNC'd bits of kit. I had hoped there would be options over here in the UK.

Oliver did you ever feel bad selling off a naff kit which you didn't believe to be safe for your own use?

Wise words from Oliver.

Jack, do think about this carefully. With some careful searching a good set, new or used, always turn up at the right price. In fact, I'm sure there's a set mentioned recently on either eBay, v8register.net or v8forum.co.uk. Assuming you're not planning going down the magnesium route these seem to be very well priced...

My only other recommendation would be to invest the cost spent on spacer kits, into the wheels themselves. Good luck either way...

Agree, nothing beets the proper 8x15 minilites in the Sebring arches. I was just hoping to fill my arches better until I shred my current tyres.

Thanks for the views guys. It seems the British forums are far more cautious over spacers than the US ones. I think the yanks put widening and stance above all else. Not a bad thing, the monsters on the British V8 news letter are a great source of procrastination

Not really no, when I list things on eBay or indeed as I go through life I tend to be brutally honest, something some people respect but most don't like.

I seem to recall the listing of said items of junk went something along the lines of horrible wheel spacers for sale, a bad design and probably only suitable for show use.

But don't let reality get in the way of having a pop at the person who's bluntly told you your idea is terrible.

Simple fact of life, massive offset wheels or massive spacers will destroy your wheel bearings, doesn't matter who says they won't. Mgb wheel bearings are perfectly up to the job intended lasting a long time but start putting excessive force through them and they won't last long at all. I would be looking at a wider rear axle and big offset on the fronts if you must.
