Does anyone know of or can recommend any battery insulation kits that have worked for them to prevent discharge in cold weather conditions?

Normly if the battery is low in cold weather it is on the way out or needs a recon. You can disconect the battery when not in use or put it on a good charger. We use CTEK charges. We have used the recon mode and it worked and used it to maintaining the level when not in use, they are not cheep but work well. You can get units that disconect the bettery when they get to a set level but they are more to stop the battery from being damiged.

If you can afford it buy a new battery. If it's failing then you'll spend all your time wondering if it'll start. My 86 Mayfair gets started three times a year and fires up after a good 15 - 20 secs of turning over. The battery was new three years ago.

Been there and done that with insulation around the battery box, if all else is fine it's the battery.

Andy.
