As above Barcelona prohibited from signing new players during the next 2 transfer windows.

Will take a big player out of the picture when it comes to the movement of big stars for a while.

They do have a pretty good squad as it is but it is good to see UEFA acting for once. Might mean the FFP regulations may actually be enforced...

Just posted that in the Off topic thread.

Impressed they've gone after the big boys and as you say...there is hope about FFP.

With Valdez out for the rest of this year and out of contract this summer they're going to need him to re-sign. Even then, he's out for 7 months.

GK will be interesting for them next year.

Agreed, a real issue at Keeper for them now, but to finally clamp down on one of the Euro giants is refreshing.

wow! amzaing they are doing the right thing, though i am sure barca will claim the need for an emergency signing or set an appeal so the ban wont be inforced until the appeal process is complete.

I think Barcelona have already signed a replacement in Ter Stegan. Valdes will be given a year extension, which he will have to take, as no one is going to take a injured keeper.
Don't think it will affect them that much, they already have a great squad and the ability to produce talent.

The ban will be for Jan and summer 2015. Sign up players in the summer then!

Are you sure? I thought it was an immediate 14 month ban covering 2 consecutive windows.

About FCB. Sanction is for two consecutive transfer windows (Jan and summer 2015). Club plans 2 appeal. Chelsea did so in 2010 and similar sanction was lifted

So does BBC.

"The Catalan club cannot buy or sell players until the summer of 2015 after the world governing body imposed a transfer ban for the next two windows."

Chelsea was quite different. They "won" their appeal because they paid the club that made the complaint.

Anyone know if it covers loan signings too?

To be honest I don't think the sanction is that bad for a club like Barca. They already have an incredible squad, with plenty of talent coming through the ranks. Yes, keeper might be a problem, but I think they'll cope fine!

They need a world class CB to go with Pique IMO. Haven't seen much of Bartra this season however.
Midfield is fine with Busquets, Mascherano, Song, Iniesta, Xavi, Fabregas, Messi, Neymar, Pedro, Tello and Roberto. Obviously they have Deulofeu on loan too.
Only striker seems to be Alexis.

Ter Stegen, a centre back and a striker I think they might buy in the summer if the ban is from January 15.

If they can take a loan signing I can see Reina going there in the summer.

I can;t help thinking this is a bit of a slap because of the Neymar deal too.

I doubt they'll be allowed to complete that Ter Stegan deal.

Either way massive issue for them with Xavi and Puyol leaving too. I imagine the former will be shown some good terms to stay!!!

I would think Real will take this as an opportunity to really try and add some (more) big players whilst Barca are out of the picture.
