do caterham actually hold any stock??

trying to buy all the parts left to complete the car in the eves before the summer comes. literally 90% of all the parts im trying to buy are out of stock according to the website

you would think at the crazy marked up prices caterham sell parts for that they might hold stock and want to sell parts!

hoping a call to parts department will lead to getting the parts i need, or am i in for a long wait??

will be very annoyed if i cant get the car on the road for the summer due to not being able to source parts

I've completely given up on CC parts and won't use them unless I absolutely have to. Not only are the priced much more than Redline and are usually out of stock, but their postage costs are crazy. I needed some new nuts and bolts for my rear suspension refresh and CC wanted £26 plus £12 postage. Redline did the whole lot posted for just over than half that!

I tend to use them just because I'd rather order online than phone up.

yes

I drive past Dartford on my travels but there are only so many times I can hear "sorry, not got that and not sure when we are getting them in..."

Buying nuts and bolts from caterthing is crazy find your local fastner supplier and save money , I would think you could save upto 70% on caterthing horrendous prices, you may be have to call and pick them up but the difference is worth it

I had to laugh this morning - I've been waiting for the metric diff struts to come in to stock for about 6 months now and, to my surprise, they were in. Quickly set up an online order but, before I could pay, the price had dropped to £0 !! Might just put the order through and see waht happens, but I guess it's a phone call at some stagefrown

Have you talked to Redline yet? if not, why not? That's exactly the kind of stuff they'll have.

My experiences of Darren Phillips, Caterham's Parts & Heritage Manager (darren.phillips@caterham.com), have been without exception impressive - he always responded promptly and helpfully.

I don't know why anybody expects to get anything done quickly via e-mail, especially from a small company such as Redline. E-mail is not the way to do it! If you'd been there you'd understand what I mean. Caterham parts dept it is not, however friendly, obliging and prompt via telephone or walk-in visit, it is.

disagree 100%. don't have an email address if you don't want to use it as a viable medium for company business in the same way you should haven't a phone if you're not going to answer it, or have a letterbox if you're not going to check for post.

Agreed.

Lots of us work during the day. We can't be hanging around on the phone, where as we can fire off an email in the evening and await a response the next day.

Disagree with me if you want, I'm not Redline, nor am I currently trying and failing to source parts for my car. I'm just pointing out that Redline are not a particularly I.T. orientated company. If you can't wait for an e-mail or get to a telephone at any time during normal office hours at any point in a working week, then back to Caterham Parts you go. Perhaps by the time Redline has responded to your e-mail, Caterham Parts might've even had the time to get you some bits made. Alternatively you can do what I did- spend a few minutes on the phone to Redline in the morning and have a beautifully wrapped package arrive the next day with most / all of the parts you need and a cheaper invoice with realistic postage costs on it. Maybe once you've experienced both sides of the coin yourself you'll realise that you're better off just sewing your nose back on and finding a few moments to place your orders over the phone.

I've got a Gold loyalty card that brings with it unlimited derision from Mick for not looking after my car well enough, and a cup of tea from John when I visit. And passive smoking.
You just don't get that in Dartford.
