I thought it might catch your eye Slippery. Looks tidy from the pictures, but we all know that doesn't mean much....
Really like the black leather, think this is now my preference on a 126

It might as well be on the other side of the world though! I knew it was a long way when it was in a county I'd never even heard of. laugh
I also love the colour scheme, but prefer the leather when it runs from left to right in larger pieces as opposed to thinner strips running from front to back. Shame it's not local though, as it's a handsome looking thing. yes

Judging by the bodywork I think the car has always been garaged. There are a couple of small scratches, but nothing too deep. The wheel arches are clean and having owned a W124 before this is a sign of a well looked after car., I have a few more photos available and I am confident in the description of the car and the history is impeccable., , Please contact me for more details if interested., GREEN, 3 owners, Next MOT due 28/10/2014, Tax expires 31/10/2014, Full service history, Electric sunroof, Electric windows, Height adjustable driver's seat, Metallic paint, Spare wheel (Full), Power steering, Central locking, Alarm, Immobiliser. £2,950

48,000 trips down the road for a pint of milk, or more likely sat around for years and only rolled out for the MOT each year. Its pretty but I see a car like that becoming trouble when put into proper use TBH.

But not the tasteful discerning petrol barge-shopper. He still understands that white is a crap colour for a car.
Generally yes. But this looks bloody great and I'd gladly have a white one:
Hi Zwolf, you've been a miss. I've always quite liked white, so long as there are silver wheels and black trim strips to go with it and so long as it is kept mint. One problem in the UK is the lack of light. There is so much more light in Florida or California that white cars look a million times better.

That Volvo is very tempting indeed, at that sort of money really....
I can't help thinking if you owned that then you'd die before it did given regular servicing.

See, I think the cream leather (mushroom?) on the W12/W126's is the perfect interior, preferably with a darker, classy hue for the exterior.....something like almandine, midnight blue or malachite.

Previously I would have agreed with you, my 2 w124s have mushroom with blue-black and azurite blue exteriors. But my r129 has black leather and has won me over. I just think that the black leather against the rich walnut looks fantastic- a real gentlemans club look. I remember when the e32 v8 was launched, and they had one in the press pics with black leather and wood which was pure class.

This opinion could quite easily change tomorrow though, as I am a bit whimsical...

In a word, nope. But thanks for asking.

The saga of the starter motor (just a measly starter motor!) drifts into week 10, while the overall SEC saga passes 7 1/2 months.

I'm starting to wonder if the car had been fine and I got it home with no issues all the way back on 4th Sept, would I have ticked the W126 box and already be starting to think of something else by now? Probably.

I want to try an R129 500 before the reasonably priced ones disappear and I want a really, really good W124 saloon, but the SEC is baulking any further purchases at the minute.

There have honestly been times when I have genuinely forgotten all about the car, then remembered with a start that I have another car somewhere. The last 3 weeks have been frustrating as the promise that it was finally ready was dangled in front of my nose 3 weeks ago and now I just want the thing on my drive and not in the 'effing workshop!

I'm with you on that one Harry. I would always have gone for mushroom leather / beige cloth, ideally with almandine/blauschwartz/tourmaline (or pearl blue)
but the blauschwartz 230te changed my mind. That car's combination of the dark charcoal cloth (which was in perfect condition) with the black plastics and the walnut was so classy.

I still think my ideal W124 interior is an early car with cream velour, but a later (still pre-fecelift, obviously) car with black leather, leccy driver's seat, black plastics and zebrano would be lovely. But what exterior to go with it? Still pondering that.

If you like the look of the QX, there really is no good reason not to buy one. They are bloody good cars.
One of the best-respected posters on the HJ forum, Aprilia, used to love the Nissan QX. Dull but phenomenally well screwed together.
Somebody else must have liked it - sold already.

Still, I now know to keep an eye out for them in future!

It's on 195k. The plate is a personal one that's coming off - the original ends NCF. Yours?
The very same!
I was watching it on eBay too; in tenuous link news, I offered for one of the properties in the background of the pics last month hehe
