Slightly weird eh? I assume he was trying to ape the professional ads that put back the passenger seat!
65k mile S500 for £2.5k. I like this line "My Accountants car since 2000" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-P-Mercedes-Benz-S-5...
So much proper smoker barge for the money
I've posted that car a few times, no one seems interested in it.65k mile S500 for £2.5k. I like this line "My Accountants car since 2000" http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-P-Mercedes-Benz-S-5...

Er ... That GS is not within thread budget!
Prices can be haggled up as well as down...as proved by my friend's ex-girlfriend many years ago on a Morris Minor they were buying.Seller: "Make me an offer around £600."
Ex-GF: "£650?"
True story.

This is truthfully stretching the terms of under 5K for a half decent workable example (by about 1.5K+) but I think the L322 Range Rover is now viable in V8 or even LPG conversions which seem to carry a discount. It's not that worried by high mileage as it sort of pushes them into working or not on the transfer and gearbox front and the suspension and electrics.

Having spent far too long researching it the airbags cost about £300 front each side and £150 rear, plus £300 for the compressor. Plus £1-£2.5k when the gearbox or transfer goes wrong and some money on fuel.
But overall the l322 Range Rover is something special and I think it deserves a thought if not a place in the 1-5K barges thread.
According to Ed China the compressor issue is usually a borked piston/gasket which can be fixed. You can't buy the part but should be able to get one fabricated for not very much. (IIRC from the prog on this model)http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

I know it's not a Merc, but my friends GS300 at under a bag is epic value.

Hi. I seen this car about 3 months ago. Rust on every wheel arch, damaged bumpers, engine leaks oil in couple places, front windscreen with white spots in a corners. Inside looks like it done 250k, lose trim, filthy interior. no service book just printout from garage with mileage. it's 800-1000£ car.
Great Int. With news like that, you should lurk less and post more!

"Low mileage""133" (actually 135k according to the pic)
Might be a low annual mileage, but I am sorry I would not call 135k low mileage!

Worth trying first as it's so cheap. Also saw this £5,500 (so overbudget) LPG 4.4V8 Vouge but the service history/recent service and long tax might put it into consideration.

The green is starting to appeal to me along with the smaller alloys which should save on tyre costs.

I "did a 0a" and bought my car from near Glasgow from cat220 and drove 450 miles back. It's not an issue, I quite enjoyed it!
In other barge news I'm collecting my final refurbished wheel later. They look fantastic! Might clean the car later! 745i is running well

Have you covered the refurb and post refurb treatments you were planning to apply to the wheels somewhere? Would be interested to know in more detail as I need to get the 9x20s on our S5 refurbished when I've found some winter wheels and the time is right to swap them over

If you can be without the wheels that's much easier (and what I'd have liked to have done) as you can get all refurbished and coated at once.
If you don't want to do the coating application yourself (it's not hard as such, but needs to be done properly and not as straight forward as applying a wax or something similar) you can always get a detailer to do it for you. Worth doing, as the chap who bought my E38 on here attested to.... It makes the wheels so easy to clean, literally, just water is enough to bring them up like new again.
