89k and £4k. That seems absurd value for money. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

Looks like a great car at a good price.

What's going on with the front indicators though? They look half-ginger, half-clear?

Are they facelift US spec? They always required gingers for side markers....

They were used on US-spec facelift cars but they were also fitted to UK cars for about a year. I think they are correct on this particular car. Derin's SL had them, too. http://www.bmwclassics.co.uk/gallery/index.php?spg... Now that shows you how good one of these cars can be!

My uncle's 1995 model has them too.

Lovely. Nice to see the original (pre 01) plates on it too.

Doesn't mention the hard top on that SL. I wonder if it's missing?

At least you wouldn't have to find somewhere to store it! Always look on the bright side. smile

Genuinely reckon the current falkens on there would get that if the outer edges hadn't worn. As said, after about 20k they've got shed loads left!
I always rated the Falkens on the e65, decent levels of grip in dry and wet and pretty hard wearing.

Re winters, ran a set in my v70 for years, totally transform the car! I actually ran them all year, only disadvantage is they wear a good bit quicker and can increase road noise.
I'm really torn between Goodyears or Falkens all round. Not much difference in price really (although all 4 could mean about £100) but the Goodyears do grip noticeably better, they are a little quieter too.... The wear rating is 300, which, interestingly, is the same as the Falken.

Decisions, decisions!

That's about 2 miles from me. I know the garage well - good guys and I've bought a couple of cars from them (although probably not for almost 10 years now). And a good pal just bought a Boxster from them.
Any chance you could go down there, take a look and do a 'thread report'?

I've got Goodyears on my wife's Golf and they're quite impressive. They came top in various tyre tests last year, too.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 tyres are very well regarded. I'm not sure how long the Falken would last on the rears though. These are almost gone after 13k

Price has now mysteriously risen to 4995. Hard top is present BTW I rang and asked.

If anyone is genuinely interested, I'm happy to. But since Baby Gruber's arrival 3 weeks ago, my spare time isn't quite my own any more...

At 4 grand I was ready to buy it sight unseen but the price shenanigans have put me off a little. Congratulations on the little Gruber BTW smile.

Probably doesn't count as a barge, unlike say the Merc 190 / W124 which I started out looking for, but it's withint thread budget - here's my latest acquisition, from Old Colonel Cars, a BMW 325i coupe.

Has been down in Yorkshire getting various jobs done & I'll be picking it up to drove back to Aberdeen in a fortnight's time.

The coupes aren't as wafty are they? Thought it was 'sports' suspension for them as standard (likely fubard now so probably pretty wafty) biggrin.

Nice cars though and that Old Colonel car looks like a good 'un.

Local garage to me has a 98S E430 Avantgarde estate in that doom blue - 'one family' owner apparently - looks a bit shabby but original, maybe a good winter hack - overpriced at £1695?

Customer of mine has offered me his 01/51 E240 saloon, owned from new. Mobil 1 FSH and 100k. Might make a bid on this one...

Your car looks great on his website. I've often looked at cars on there, good pics and description - what was the buying experience like?

Ben- congratulations, looks every bit as much as a barge as a C124, and certainly, from the photos, looks like it has escaped rust far better than most C124s. I presume some hefty rust-proofing is required before it faces Aberdeen's winter roads?

Looked lovely that, but surprised you have had to get anything done yourself - what sort of work des it need?
